'14 VA QB Caleb Henderson (UNC Verbal)

If he can move, he wouldn't be called a pro style QB now, would he?
Then take it up with recruiting services. Don't base your opinion on what category he's listed under as a 10th grader. Kid runs a 4.7 40 and ran for 600 yards and threw for 2700 as a sophomore. He is a player and can clearly run if needed.

I'd suggest you watch his film.

Fair enough. I didn't see any film in his thread so far, and assumed if scUM's recruiting him, he was a pro-style QB.

I made this comparison elsewhere, but he reminds me of Andrew Luck with the way he holds/releases the ball.

I'm no expert on QB mechanics, but he seems to have his hand over the top of the ball like Luck and has the overhand throwing motion.

As for the pro-style QB vs. dual-threat, I think most would describe Luck as a pro-style QB but he was also a guy who ran a sub-4.6 40 and tested extremely highly in the other athletic tests at the combine. Seems like Henderson could fit that mold as well. Like Luck, he should be have the speed to run if he needs to and with his size and strength to plow through a defender in short yardage. But he doesn't seem to have the same elusiveness or ability to make guys miss that you see in true dual threat QBs like Troy Smith, Krenzel, Braxton, JT Barrett, etc.

I always thought CK just bounced off defenders..I guess it's been awhile as I don't remember him ever being an elusive kind of QB like the other 3 you mentioned.

11W - 2014 Quarterbacks and More

7/19

Henderson:

I spoke to his father, Eric Henderson, a couple of weeks ago and he had the following to say:

Visit: "He loved it. He hadn't been to Columbus since he was 7. The camp went very well."
More: "He came in Thursday after visiting Michigan. He met with Coach Herman and Coach Meyer, then camped all day Friday. After the camp, we went over to the stadium to check it out."
Offer: "They said they were going to take their time offering a 2014 quarterback. They want to make sure they offer the right guys. It was also good to hear from Coach Meyer that he didn't need a track star at quarterback, just a guy that can move around in the pocket and make occasional plays with his feet. Caleb can do those things."
Timetable: "I think he's going to let it play out."
Why was Caleb a Buckeye fan growing up?: "I don't know, that's a good question. How does a kid ask for an Ohio State t-shirt when he's 7? How does he know stats from all the great Buckeyes like Troy Smith? As a kid he always said he was going to play football for Ohio State. He's inching closer to having the option to pursue that dream."
I got the vibe Caleb is VERY interested in the Buckeyes, even though I didn't speak directly with Caleb. I hope to chat with him after he visits for FNL.

2014 QB's in general: I think it's safe to say zero 2014 quarterback targets hold a committable offer from the Bucks. I have been told by three different 2014 quarterback recruits that the OSU coaches are saying they haven't offered any quarterbacks in the 2014 class.

Top QB target?: Also some confusion here. Both Allen and Henderson think they're number one on the Buckeyes 2014 quarterback board. I think this just a misunderstanding or just the players getting the vibe they're the number one target. I wouldn't read too much into this.

QB Henderson satisfied with performance
July, 28, 2012
By Jared Shanker | ESPN.com

Caleb Henderson (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) has been high on Ohio State?s radar for several months, and the Mid-Atlantic quarterback could have taken one step closer to earning an offer from the Buckeyes following his performance at Friday Night Lights.

?I felt the camp went really well,? Henderson said. ?I put the ball in the places it needed to be and felt I was really consistent with everything.?

Quarterbacks coach Tom Herman was talking with Henderson most of the night, and Henderson said Herman was happy with the way he threw.
