VA S Quin Blanding (Virginia Signee)

I'd be shocked if he chose any school other than UVA.

UVA is a tremendous institution, the only negative thing one can honestly say is, their football program sucks. They won 4 games last year, 2 of those wins were by 1 point each. I have to believe Coach Meyer will still follow this one closely.

Awesome school academic wise and with incredible history, etc. but I was not very impressed with the campus when we toured 2 years ago. Seeing the buildings designed by TJ were cool but I was rather shocked at the poor shape of much of the campus. Not saying that is a major factor but I just was not very impressed. And I'm certainly not impressed with the teams they put on the field.

Coach London is as well respected a coach as there is in that state, and that says something with Beamer. He works the HS campuses like nothing VT has approached and has made it a point to have his team hold practices in various parts of the state to get more interest. Last year they didn't have the success they expected but CML has major pull with coaches and has put together some real solid classes, it'll be interesting to see how this year goes for them.

Ive visited(and partied) at uva many times, and the campus is actually quite nice, imo. I want to be a biased buckeye fan and say that uva doesn't have a chance against us, but like was previously stated, London is a heck of a recruiter, especially in state. Their season should be a little better since they will get a previously top rated qb under center all year in Phillip sims as well. Should be an interesting recruiting race and will be quite the story for months. But could mean even more in getting guys from the VA area, hopefully withers can get us in the tidewater area as well. A S combination of bell and blanding in the future couldnt be put into words on how elite thatd be. Not to mention if we have a CB combo of apple, burrows and webb

Quin Blanding (6-2, 185, DB, Virginia Beach, VA)
It has been reported that Quin will make his decision this Wednesday, Feb 27. Ohio State is one of the schools in the mix but it would be a huge coup if they landed Blanding. With Everett Withers at the helm, one never can count Ohio State out for any safety prospect. Along with the Buckeyes, Blanding?s other nine schools are: Virginia, Notre Dame, North Carolina, Miami, West Virginia, Clemson, NC State, Florida State, and Michigan. It would be a surprise if he chose anywhere else other than UVa.
This is one of the quietest lead-ups to an announcement I have ever seen. The silence seems to say that it is a done deal. But hey, everyone has to go to school somewhere, and he may be so tired of the beach Alum Creek Beach seems fine.

Cavs could land one of best recruits in program history
Posted: Tuesday, February 26, 2013
by Andrew Ramspacher

At 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, Quin Blanding will walk to the stage and take a seat at a cloth-draped table inside Bayside High School?s auditorium. The scene ? filled with friends, family members, reporters and flashing cameras ? will resemble what Taquan Mizzell looked at seven months ago, what Demetrious Nicholson saw two years ago.

In this setting, both Mizzell and Nicholson announced they would continue their football careers at the University of Virginia.

Will Blanding follow script?

According to recruiting services, all signs point to yes. This means the Cavaliers could land one of their biggest prospects in program history.

?You?re talking about a player who will be, historically, the highest-rated commitment, at the time he actually chooses Virginia, in the modern era,? said Brad Franklin, the managing editor for CavsCorner.com.

Franklin?s site, which is powered by the established recruiting service Rivals.com, lists Blanding, a 6-foot-2, 196-pound free safety, as the No. 4 overall player in the 2014 class. Rivals, Scout.com and 247Sports.com rate him as a five-star prospect.

Blanding?s composite overall ranking, which takes into account the four main recruiting services (ESPN included) and is compiled by 247Sports, is No. 5.

?It would be a tremendous get for Virginia,? said Jamie Oakes, senior writer for Wahoos247.com.

Per NCAA rules, Virginia is not allowed to talk about recruits until they have signed their National Letter of Intent.

In August, when Mizzell, a five-star running back, made his verbal pledge to the Wahoos, he was ranked No. 20 by Rivals in the 2013 class. He was the highest prospect to pick UVa since offensive tackle Eugene Monroe in 2005 (No. 11 overall when he made his verbal commitment).

In 2002, Virginia had three five-stars in its class ? defensive end Kai Parham (No. 11), running back Michael Johnson (No. 14) and linebacker Ahmad Brooks (No. 27).

Blanding just might trump them all.

Wednesday, he?ll make his choice. UVa is contending with the likes of Florida State, Ohio State, Miami, Clemson and North Carolina, among others.

But the heavy lean is to Charlottesville.

Why?

?What really turned the tides here was the visit he took to Virginia the weekend before last,? Franklin said. ?The coaches did everything they could to kind of keep it quiet, but it was basically just him and the coaching staff and his family.

?He got a chance to see the schemes, to have his questions answered. It was within two or three days after that visit when he kind of announced, himself, that he was going to commit at a ceremony at Bayside.?

The Bayside-Virginia connection is strong. Marlin alums on UVa?s current roster include Nicholson, a two-year starting cornerback, safety Anthony Cooper and linebacker Henry Coley. Of course, Mizzell will join the bunch in the fall.
