Sun Sentinel - Defending state champ St. Thomas carries momentum over into spring football

5/24

Peete, a 6-foot-5, 190-pound rising junior, is a high-profile transfer from Ely who said he has already benefitted from working with receivers coach Cris Carter.

?I just want learn how to be a better receiver and a better person,? he said. ?St. Thomas Aquinas is a great school and can teach me that.?

Peete, who already has offers from big-time schools, including Florida, said he?d like to get offers from Florida State, Miami and Alabama as well.

Dated article, but two things of note here, aside from his good attitude:

1. He has apparently transferred from Ely to Aquinas.
2. He is working with Cris Carter.

More (Nic Bosa also mentioned)...

Ohio State recruiting: Devante Peete, '15 WR, talks Buckeyes, top 5

Ohio State: "I came out to watch their practice (for the Orange Bowl) and that gave them an advantage after watching the practice. I had a great conversation with coach Urban Meyer when we met and think I would be a good fit in their offense. I also really like coach Smith the receivers coach."

He was able to see Urban Meyer's success at Florida up close and personal because he grew up in the Sunshine state.

"I just feel like he's a hell of a coach and gives 100% for the team. He's a great guy," Peete said of Meyer.

Peete was only able to take one visit during the football season, which was to Miami to watch the Hurricanes take on the Florida Gators. He had a great time watching the Hurricanes pull off a win. He wants to take more visits this spring, summer, and fall and has a few schools he'd really like to see.

"As of right now, I'm going to try and take two (visits) this spring, then maybe more in the summer and fall," he continued. "Ohio State, LSU, and Alabama are a few I really want to see."

4-Star Florida WR Says Says Ohio State In His Top 2
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Devante Peetehas two schools at the top of his list.

"Ohio State and Miami are my favorites," Peete said. "They are my top two right now."

The 6-foot-5 and 195-pound Peete estimates he has at least two dozen scholarship offers. His list includes Ohio State, Miami, Alabama, LSU, South Florida, Clemson, Louisville, Michigan, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Peete plans to take official visits before selecting a college and says two he definitely wants to make are to Ohio State and Miami.

Peete is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the country's No. 204 prospect, the No. 26 wide receiver, and the No. 31 prospect in Florida. His Crystal Ball reads 50% Ohio State and 50% Miami with 10 predictions made.

Interesting, still have to think we are fighting an uphill against Miami (always the assumption for a Florida kid). Would love to have him though, we need an outside guy in this class and Peete fits the bill...reminds me a lot of Mike Williams in high school.

Do you like him better than Ofodile (sp, the MO kid) who chose Oregon and Van Jefferson?
