Uncle Luke, coach trade Twitter barbs over 5-star FSU decommit

On the field the Florida State-Miami rivalry is a shadow of its former self, with the Seminoles winning five straight; six of seven; and nine of 11. The last time the Hurricanes won at least two in a row in the series was the end of a six-game winning streak that ran from 2000-2004.

Off the field and in the social media arena? The rivalry is alive and well.

Late Tuesday morning, five-star 2016 tight end Isaac Nauta, the highest-rated offensive commit, along with quarterback Malik Henry, in FSU’s class next year, announced via Twitter that he had decided to decommit from FSU and reopen his recruitment. In his tweet missive, he took what some took to be a vague slap at the current “culture” around the FSU football program, writing that “I have decommitted to make sure that I make the best possible decision for my future in becoming a man and developing as a student-athlete.”

To add insult to injury, Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell, an unabashed and very public supporter of Miami football, took to the same social media website to take a jab at the FSU assistant who would’ve been/will be Nauta’s position coach, tight ends coach Tim Brewster.

As for 6-4, 235-pound Florida native Nauta’s future? Florida, Georgia, Michigan and USC are all schools that are listed as “High” in the interest category.

Took me a sec to remember who Tim Brewster was... FSU keeping it classy.

I know Brewster didn't work out at Minny and maybe I remember a violation or something but was he really that bad? I didn't think he was a bad guy or anything. What did I miss?

Nothing like that. Just running his mouth in an embarrassing fashion, not unlike Herbie.
You're a coach at FSU... why get into pissing matches with Joe Blow from Miami?

When Brewster was hired in 2007 he had no experience as a head coach or a coordinator at either the college or NFL level. He was Mack Brown's recruiter, hired to sell Minnesota's vision with a new stadium on the way. He immediately took Mason's run-heavy two back system and changed it to a spread. And after two seasons of futility in the spread he converted to a pro-style single back offense after most of Mason's recruits were gone and he'd stocked the roster with spread players. What Rich Rod and Brady Hoke spent 7 years doing at Michigan, Brewster managed to accomplish all by himself in 3-1/2 seasons.

He hired Everett Withers as DC -- they gave up 30 or more points to 10 of 12 opponents, 40 or more in half their games. He kicked four players off the team four months into the job after it was discovered they videotaped a gang rape. His first road game at FAU in 2007 the team didn't bring their own footballs... and these are just the ones I remember off the top of my head.

It was bad. He's largely viewed as having been all talk and hot air. He was also the victim of Bielema's 'the card said go for two' game.
