LSU played 3 outside of the southeast
which is only 1 fewer than Ohio St. played outside the Midwest.
The schools involved:

OSU vs LSU OOC

07 Wash - 09 Was
04 NC St - 05 ASU
06 Texas - ______
08 USC - 03 Zona

with Trips to Miami, Cal, Va Tech, Oklahoma coming up for tOSU.

But LSU was one of the few southern schools willing to leave their region in that timespan. I still remember UF's trip to Glendale being their first departure in a decade.

to be fair, the Arizona St. game was originally scheduled for Baton Rouge, but Katrina changed it.

we have upcoming games @:
W. Virginia, Az St., and Oklahoma

we played UNC in Atlanta (still southeast so I didn't list it originally)
and are playing Oregon in Dallas this year (not southeast, but much closer to us than them).

Was the VT matchup just a home game, or was there a return trip somewhere?

we played there in '02 (one year before this list starts).
were supposed to play them here in '05, but it was postponed until '07 so they could play Southern Cal that year for a big TV payout.

So when I point out that the SEC as a whole avoids leaving region, you get specific and act like my point is invalid?

How many games has Georgia played outside the SE in fifty years?

I get that LSU is the exception, but not leaving the SE is the general rule in the SEC.

That doesn't make their schedule easy. Just some perspective.
