Let's here it for the O-Line.

I was reading the o-zone article by Brandon Castel.
Ohio State was headed for a scary, scary place on the offensive line before Meyer and his staff took over and saved the day with those two late commitments. That gave the Buckeyes not only some hope for the future, but also some much-needed depth behind Mewhort and Fragel, if those are indeed the two starters to open the year.
There's no doubt we wouldn't have been able to compete if we hadn't got Dodson and Decker last year, especially after striking out on all the OL commits for the 2013 recruiting year. It was a miracle, indeed.

In some alternate universe we're getting set to shatter the record for sacks allowed in a single season.

Offensive line impressing Warinner
August, 10, 2012
By Austin Ward | ESPN.com

On the third workout of spring practice, Ohio State turned its attention to short-yardage sets.

For offensive line coach Ed Warinner, that effort can be considered night.

On the sixth day of training camp, the Buckeyes went back to try it again in goal-line situations.

Chalk that performance up as day.

Apparently the figurative sun came out during a morning session on Friday, and Warinner was basking in it compared to the darkness of that early session more than four months ago.

"What a difference there is in this mentality of hitting it in there, being physical, playing hard, attacking," Warinner said. "I like where we?re headed in that direction.

"Not judging anybody else, but just at my position, much better physicality, more emotion into it, playing hard, competing, wanting to win, not looking around to see who else is going to make the block. Guys are having fun doing it. I really think we?re coming together in that part of it."

Don't call it a battle: Ohio State football's Reid Fragel, Taylor Decker compete at right tackle
By Pat Brennan

Published: Sunday, August 12, 2012

Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer is calling the competition for the Buckeyes? starting right tackle job a ?battle,? but that word seems too strong when you hear the players involved discuss the matter.

Senior tight end-turned-lineman Reid Fragel is opposed in his pursuit of the starting position by freshman Taylor Decker. Fragel said he doesn?t begrudge Decker for opposing him, nor does Decker wish to supplant the Buckeyes? three-time letter-winner in cold blood.

Quite the opposite ? they?re supporting each other in the competition and both players said they plan to keep it that way during OSU football?s annual media day Sunday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Meyer said he isn?t satisfied with either players? performance so far and noted their position as one of the weaker ones on the entire team, as well as one of few ongoing position battles.

?One guy is learning how to play (the position) and one guy is a freshman,? Meyer said during OSU?s media day. ?They?re trying hard. They?re talented guys. They?re great people, but our production at right tackle isn?t where it needs to be.?

Ohio State football: Offensive line sheds Meyer?s label
By Bill Rabinowitz
The Columbus Dispatch Wednesday August 15, 2012

During spring practice, coach Urban Meyer called the Ohio State offensive line ?nonfunctional.?

The words stung, even if there were reasons for it being so.

The Buckeyes lost three multiyear starters from last year?s line ? center Michael Brewster and tackles Mike Adams and J.B. Shugarts.

Only left guard Andrew Norwell was penciled in at the same starting position he played last year. Biggest of all was the entirely new offensive system that Meyer had installed. Growing pains were inevitable.

Months later, the Buckeyes? offensive line is far from a finished product, but the progress is unmistakable in the eyes of the coaches and the players themselves.

They are much fitter, thanks to the dietary changes and a grueling conditioning program.

?We don?t have any guys with bellies hanging over their belts,? offensive line coach Ed Warinner said.

Ohio State football: Right tackle job is up for grabs
By Bill Rabinowitz
The Columbus Dispatch Wednesday August 15, 2012

A year ago, Reid Fragel was a backup tight end for Ohio State.

A year ago, Taylor Decker was getting ready for his senior year of high school in Vandalia, near Dayton, after committing to Notre Dame.

Now, both players are in the middle of a competition to start as the Buckeyes offensive right tackle, something that neither could have predicted back then.

?It?s not a battle of all-Big Tens yet,? coach Urban Meyer said with typical bluntness. ?One guy is learning how to play (the position). One guy is a freshman. They?re trying hard. They?re talented guys. They?re great people. But our production at right tackle is not where it needs to be.?

With the tragic season ending loss to o Conner, could Chris carter come back to the o line?

Baldwin moving over would have compensated for the Carter move. Baldwin has some potential, too.

As long as Boren gets healthy, we weren't going to need O'Connor this year anyway.

Hope he comes back strong next year
