2012 SEC Discussion & Division Races

former Bama verbal Reuben Foster flips to Auburn

It was rumored for months and at a Thursday afternoon press conference whispers turned to reality as Auburn (Ala.) linebacker Reuben Foster publicly flipped his verbal commitment from Alabama to Auburn in victory that was the recruiting equivalent of an Iron Bowl blockbuster.Foster committed to the Crimson Tide nearly a year to the day (July 18, 2011) that he decommitted and frequently talked about the praises of the program at various games, camps and other events. He recently declared himself "100% committed" to Alabama but it was clear the recruiting process appeared to weigh heavily on the 6-foot-1, 240-pounder, who was still hearing from college coaches on a near constant basis.
"Over the last few weeks I've really put a lot of thought and time into where I will play football," Foster said at a press conference at his high school. "I want to make an announcement so I can put this behind me and get in all the work I need to do for high school and to get better for college both academically and athletically. I am going to enroll at Auburn University."
Not just a 5-star, but a top-5 overall prospect by most rating services.

"If you ain't cheating you ain't trying" isn't a compliment in my book, but looking at Georgia's recent on field product, perhaps you aren't a part of that and can hold your head high.

We handled our bidness against Florida last year. How did you make out?
I'll have to remember this quote when bowl season comes around this year - we'll see how things end up.

Neither of these things are even remotely relevant to the point I was making about the cutthroat recruiting practices (ie blatant and over the top cheating compared to the run of the mill kind found everywhere else including the Big Ten) ubiquitous in the SEC that I believe was a major factor leading to Urban Meyer's departure from Florida.

He's the winningest and most successful coach we've had since HOF Vince Dooley left and he and his staff received contract extentions in the off season.

The man isn't going anywhere.

JFC, defensive much? Did you even read my statement "you can see why some folks think his coach's seat is getting warm..."? Note the words "some" and "warm"...not "many" and "hot". It's clear he's had two relatively down years (especialy the 6-7 2010 season). If he doesn't have a better season this year, the heat will be turned up, contract extension or not...

 so did every ranked team.

Yes OSU was quite bad last year. I have no idea why that helps you.

Richt is a standup guy in a snake oil realm. He has done pretty well. Unfortunately for him his peers have bigger notches on their bed posts.

Personally I think his seat is warm and can move very far in either direction this fall.

As for the extension, how big is the buy out? I don't see an extension as much more than expensive window dressing. If he gets it done this fall, he can shut the haters up.

I hope he does. One of the few good guys.
