2012 Spring Practice (started Wed, March 28) and tidbits

Grades

PSH:92.00
Projection:1st Round
Hankins is a special, special defensive tackle, and has really come on as a sophomore. He's not draft eligible until 2013, but I have no doubt he won't be sticking for his senior campaign, barring a major setback or injury. Right now, he does a great job of controlling his gap and getting upfield to make plays in the backfield, which is not what you expect out of a man who weighs more than 330 pounds. He reminds me a lot of a younger Shaun Rogers as an athletic big man who can create pressure by collapsing the pocket or stuff the run with two poor saps of guards trying to slow him down. Overall, Hankins is the best tackle the Buckeyes have had since Big Daddy Wilkinson in the early 90s, and could reach his lofty draft heights if he continues to grow to his potential.
Another one, though no round rating...

#3 Jacksonville Jaguars-Jonathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State
I don’t know if the Jaguars would give up on Gabbert even if they were bad again in 2012. Right now as of today their roster is not impressive. Hankins can be a top five player if he has another big year next year.

2012 NFL Mock Draft selection: Trent Richardson, RB

The Buccaneers spent a second-round pick on Brian Price a couple of years ago, but he hasn't done crap thus far in his professional career. He'll probably be jettisoned after one more bad season, so Tampa will be looking for an upgrade. It'll get one with the monstrous, athletic Johnathon Hankins.

To me it still looks like Big Hank needs a lot of work....head down...looks off balance...I'm sure the fanboys will be upset with my comments but it wont be the first time. Go COACHES!

:oh:

You make the conclusion that he "needs a lot of work" based on one still photo?

Based on watching him for a few years...seems to get gased after a few plays..then never jumps off the screen at me...honestly I'm shocked to see him rated as the #1 DT. People compairing him to the Big Daddy.....not seeing that at all.

Doesn't jump off the screen at you? What games are you watching? Rarely does a DT "jump" off the screen but I can recall a number of times saying "wow he just abused his guy(s) on that play and either made the tackle or severely altered the offensive play so someone else could.

It's just "Big Daddy", not "The Big Daddy". When you say "people"...do you mean the one guy in the link provided when you asked for a link? 'Cause he didn't even really say the Big Hank was on that level.
