OMAHA, Neb. – Highlighted by a six-run fifth inning, the No. 4 seed Ohio State baseball team lit up eight runs on 12 hits in an 8-3 win over No. 5 seed Michigan in the opening round of the 2016 Big Ten Baseball Tournament Wednesday night at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb. With their fourth straight win over the Wolverines, the Buckeyes (39-17-1) will face No. 8 seed Iowa (28-25) at 10 p.m. ET Thursday in the second round of the tournament live on BTN. Ohio State has been one of the hottest teams in the country improving to 12-3 in the month of May under sixth-year head coach Greg Beals.

“It’s a great win and our boys were ready to play today and I’m really proud how they went about it,” Beals said. “Tanner continued to compete like he always does. I’m really happy for Nick and he is the heart and soul of our team. He’s a tough guy and I love that kid and he keeps doing it for us. L Grant Davis also had a big hit for us off the bench. We came here to win this tournament and we stayed in that upper bracket tonight.”

i know OSU baseball is not near the top of the OSU sports totem pole and guys on the team are not as popular as football and basketball players but dammit Ronnie Dawson deserves to be recognized in my opinion. Kid is a stud and will be playing in the MLB someday I fully expect.

Disastrous collapse by the Bullpen

Buckeyes led 4-0 headed to the 9th, Havird went 8 giving up 0 runs just 2 hits

Bullpen in the 9th 6 hits + a HBP and 4 runs

heading to extra innings now.

And meltdown complete in the 10th....not a single out recorded

Walk....bad defense of a bunt (runners safe at 1st and 2nd)....HBP to load the bases and then a single to end it. 5-4 Iowa. Momentum killing loss to say the least
