A Split National Championship in 2008?

So people thinking split title ought to just leave it in their dreams somewhere, because a 1 loss Alabama team or an undefeated ND beats us every single time.

I agree with you that we got no shot going up against a 1 loss team, but what about against a 2-loss team, like LSU in '07?

Consider this scenario where both UGA and UF loses next week, and whoever emerges from the SEC East Division beats Bama in the SEC title and wins the BCS title. That's a two loss team right there.

Georgia is the SEC East winner, so it would be them. I will concede that a universal 2 loss scenario would be a lot more interesting, but it is so improbable that I can't see it happening.

A lot of crazy shit could happen though...for example, the SEC is lined up in the next 6 spots behind ND, at least that's how it was before this weekend. So let's say Georgia loses to GT but then beats Alabama for the SEC title. You could then have another scenario where a team like Florida, or hell even Oregon, who didn't even win their own division of their conference, playing for the BCS title.

Or what about this? What if Georgia loses to GT, beats Alabama, and then ND loses to USC? You could have TWO teams (Florida and Oregon) who didn't win their own division playing for the title. What I don't see are any scenarios where everyone has 2 losses at the end, though.

How the heck is Georgia ranked ahead of us? Sure they beat Florida but they got blown out by South Carolina, barely beat an awful Tennessee team and barely beat awful Kentucky.

We barely beat Purdue and barely beat Michigan State, and neither team will likely make a bowl game either.

These are interesting scenarios, but I firmly believe that the winner of the SEC title game would be in the BCS title game, especially over another SEC team that didn't play in the SEC title game.

It's all about the computer rankings...remember whoever finishes 1 and 2 play in the title game, they don't get to pick like they do the other bowl games. Factor in the nosedive a team like Georgia would take losing to GT, and I don't see that happening.

But we haven't lost, they did and badly too.

I have no problem with a 1 loss Georgia or Florida ranked above us heading into bowl season with the schedule we've played. And since we don't get a shot at any of the big boys in bowl season, I don't have a problem with them being ranked ahead of us at the end if they win their bowl games, either.

Look at Georgia's schedule it's just as bad or worse than ours. They played two ranked teams and no one else with a pulse.

If UGA is in the top 2 in both the coaches and the AP, that alone would make it nearly impossible for UF to surpass them (they tweaked in the BCS formula in '01 after Joey Harrington got shutout just for this reason). But also keep in mind that tOSU could potentially be standing in the way of UF getting to number three in the AP.

I love the bucks, but honestly we barely survived a couple Big Ten games this year....in a year that the Big Ten is hoorrrrriibbllee.
Undefeated Yes, but I dont have a problem with a one loss Georgia being ahead of us. If we played them I would probably give Georgia the edge...

Our defense just made a 3rd string QB look like a starter. Aaron murray would probably have a field day back there lol.
