Adrian Peterson (official thread)

so are you saying that it would be the best and smartest thing to do and return next year?

No i said it MAY be, I don't think it will be a huge difference because regardless he'll be a top10 pick. Either way he can't go wrong IMO, but another year would only help (barring injury).

With so many jr WRs going pro, there also may be less top-10 competition for AD next year.

Ok, coming back another year wouldnt hurt him stats wise and draft wise next year, and it may win him a heisman. who knows? i say who knows because you never know if he could have a more serious injury next year than he had this past year, and it could have an affect on his career in the NFL. Who Knows?

It could go anyway. But if he does choose to stay, it sure would make a huge difference in the draft. Not as good of a draft for the RB w/o Peterson if he stays

With top notch NFL prospects I don't understand why injury even comes into question. Just take out a fat insurance policy and play. Like AP couldn't get a 10 million dollar insurance policy if he decided to play one more year?

Who is going to pay for it? That kind of insurance will cost you a lot of cash, given the fact that they know you'll be playing a contact sport. Heck, most health insurance companies get very sketchy when it comes to covering health costs for collegiate sports.

You don't have to pay anything until the Draft.

Coming from both of you, I guess it exists.
But I still don't understand it... if you're getting your legs/hands/body insured for 10mil (based on the idea that that is how much you could make if you stayed healthy) ... but you don't have to pay anything until then? I don't know. It just doesn't add up to me with that kind of explanation.
How does the insurance company make out, unless they're guaranteed at least 1-2 mil at the time of the draft and they figure theres under 10% chance of these guys getting seriously injured? (I'm figuring on the 10mil thrown out earlier)

Sooners' Peterson healed and ready

BARRY WILNER

Associated Press

NEW YORK - Adrian Peterson insists his collarbone has healed properly and he will be in minicamp for whichever team selects him in Saturday's NFL draft.
He's also not concerned that a recent report claiming he will need further surgery on the left collarbone will hurt his draft stock. The Oklahoma running back expects to go very high.
"The last couple of teams I visited with, Atlanta and Minnesota, I've been through everything you can do and there is nothing negative," he said Thursday. "Everything has been positive news. They've got everything right there in front of them and there are no red flags.
"I'll be ready for minicamp and won't miss anything at all."
