Akron RB Dennis Kennedy (official thread)

A very wise man once said that "What does not kill us makes us strong."

Dennis, I promise you, as someone much older than you, that painful times like the one you're going through now come to everyone sooner or later. And as surely as they come, they also go. Nothing in this life is permanent -- no matter how difficult or painful it may seem at the time.

If you do what you know in your heart is right, you will get through this just fine ...and you will be a stronger man when it's all behind you. All of us here hope to see you in scarlet and gray someday. But more important, we want to see you succeed in life.

Good luck, Dennis. Don't ever, ever give up.

He has officially cleared the NCAA clearinghouse. It was reported to OSU Director of Football Operations last week. Unfortunately, most of the Coaches were out of town, with Coach Tressel back in the office on Friday, and Doc Tressel, running back coach, returning today.

He is enrolled at BCC (Broward County College) taking 2 core classes. (Freshman English & Math) where he is getting 2 A's. His finals are August 3rd. Football freshman can come in for Orientation anytime up until the 9th, when its a full report.

It's really going to come down to if the football office will put him on a list to get in. For those who tracked Morgan last year, and the fall out when they revoked his offer, Coach Tressel said there were four kids last year that the football office asked for special consideration on. Morgan did not make the list. My prayer is that Coach Tressel will want to put him on the list, even though we are pretty well off in the RB department.

I am personally having a hard time fully understanding why he did not get in. I talked to the Director of Admissions, and she was surprised he did not make it, being a qualifier and with his GPA/ACT combination. Then she reviewed it the the VP and who ever he consulted with, and said that he would need to take 30 hours at a branch campus or somewhere else.

In the unfortunate event that he does not make it into OSU, after talking to other head coaches at Pitt, Toledo, Rutgers and Cincinnati, I believe he will be playing somewhere next year.

I am hopeful we can get a resolution on this quickly now that Staff has returned from vacation. He really wants to be Buckeye very, very badly.

h.h...let him know there are so many of us pulling for him not to just get in....but to be a great buckeye player...

It's nice to see Dennis working hard and doing the right things this summer. I think we all want to see him become a Buckeye and excel on the field.

Dennis Kennedy

Dennis Kennedy has been told by Staff that he should take classes this fall and winter and walk on in the spring.

He is way to talented for this crap, so he will be taking visits to 5 other schools over the next few days.

I am insanely mad about the way Staff handled it, so it is best that I do not make anymore comments.

I didn't think there was any academic issue with him when he committed. How did this happen all of a sudden?

Dennis - I would still love to see you in Columbus, but I understand you have to do what is best for you. Good luck in whatever decision you make.

HH,

Can you elaborate? This is awful news. How does a kid get an offer, accept an offer, sign a LOI, and then all of a sudden he's not eligible? He is supposed to start practice in two weeks?

On the other hand, if Dennis didn't do what he needed to do, there isn't much the coaches can do about it. This is an admissions issue, if I understand correctly.
