HB Dontre 'DeSoto' Wilson (Official Thread)

Yep. Somehow I think UFM would be able to fit Jalin, Zeke, and Dontre on the field at the same time. Imagine those three with Braxton on the field at the same time. Yes, please...
...and Baugh who I really think is still flying under the radar.

I have said this on multiple message boards I'm sure, but these guys would form our Demps/Rainey/Harvin combo that Meyer had on his NC team at UF in 2008. They combined for 290 touches that year, or roughly 95 a piece. That's with the 100+ rushes that Tebow (Miller) had too. As well as Kesthan Moore and Emmanuel Moody as the power backs (Dunn and Rod Smith - sub Ball in a couple years).

EDIT: Check that, Tebow had 176 carries. Moore and Moody combine for 90 as well, which is what Dunn and Rod Smith woud split.

Last week DeSoto running back Dontre Wilson told SportsDayHS columnist Matt Wixon that if Oregon coach Chip Kelly left the school then Wilson “would be back to square one.”

Wilson, a four-star recruit according to Rivals.com, was offered a scholarship to Oregon in March, and his response was as blazing fast as one of his 37 touchdown runs last season.

“Took it on the spot,” Wilson said.

While Wilson played in the Under Armour All-America Game last week, he thought about whether he would want to play for another coach.

“I worried about it a lot,” he said. “It would be back to square one.”

It looks like the only other recruit visiting is Dan Skipper. Do you (or anyone who closely follows recruiting) feel that it's better when a lot of recruits visit at once, or when you're one of a few?

IMO, it's always good for recruits to build relationships with other recruits/commits, however it can't hurt when the staff can focus their efforts on a smaller number of players at one time.

I like it when we have more commits on campus this late in the game. Earlier in the season recruits have time to develop relationships that are uncommitted but right now I would think it's more productive having OSU commits interacting with them. Allows the staff to still put all their focus into the uncommitted guys but also gives the uncommitted guys a chance to meet guys who are going to OSU (or possibly there now, we have quite a few early enrollees). Not to mention with only 2-3 spots open, there aren't going to be a ton of visits for the '13 class. As for Wilson, I love the dynamic of having an uncommitted OL that could be blocking for him there and getting him in contact with some of our commits.

I'm not a huge follower of recruiting. I'll know the names and positions, but I don't watch films because I don't know the level of play or what to look for. But Holy Cow! I want this kid to be a Buckeye. Cuts, accelerates, spins, and no fear. Him + Urban/Herman = Thermo-nuclear war.

Barrett, Sprinkle, Apple, Houston, Burrows, and Lewis are the 2013 commits already on campus.
