CB Marshon Lattimore (2017 NFL Def ROY, 3x Pro Bowl, New Orleans Saints)

How do we know that? I haven't heard anything about Lattimore. I really want to see him in the class, but I feel every month that goes by and he doesn't do anything makes me nervous.

You should never ever be nervous about where a kid goes to college. If need be, be anxious how your job is going, or whether your family is healthy, but at the end of the day, kids will pick where they want to go to school and its no big deal.

Scout $ - Lattimore Talks "Package Deal"

6/16

By The Bank.....Marshon says he & Erick Smith will definitely attend the same school. Plans on visiting Alabama, Oregon, USC, Tennessee, Ohio State, Michigan & Louisville. Also says that Coach Ginn & his parents will play a big role in his decision.

For all the "Chicken Littles" out there, here's your update. Right on cue!

He's a Glenville kid. That should answer your question & address your concern.

This is pretty much all you need to know and well said. If anyone follows osu recruiting with the kids then none of marshons recruitment is at all surprising. Getting erick smith would be like a cherry on top.

Just goes to show his ineptitude. Has no knowledge of how things typically work at a pipeline like Glenville.

These lines make me laugh the most:

I never feel like it's a good situation for the local school if you offer the local kid early, and he doesn't accept early in the process. That tells me the kid is very open to playing away from home, and that may be actually what the kid wants to do.

With Lattimore, it's long been rumored that he's looking to be more in college than just a safety or cornerback, and some schools, like Ohio State, may not be open to guaranteeing him a chance to play some offense or kick/punt return.

This guy makes Chung look like Dan Rather. He obviously has no idea what he is talking about and they should not let him participate in the crystal ball feature ever again.

Not only are Kentucky fans ignorant to how recruiting goes at Glenville, apparently so are their media. In their minds, if he hasn't committed to Ohio State yet, what's he waiting for? He obviously does not want to go there and Vince Morrow is god.

My favorite part (in addition to being totally clueless about how Glenville recruitments go down 90% of the time):

With Lattimore, it?s long been rumored that he?s looking to be more in college than just a safety or cornerback, and some schools, like Ohio State, may not be open to guaranteeing him a chance to play some offense or kick/punt return.
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but isn't it the exact opposite of that?

Everyone assumed that he would be an explosive offensive weapon before he announced that he prefers defense. I'm still not quite sure I believe that he will end up on defense at Ohio State, but it is what he wants. :slappy:

This is also pretty hilarious:

Kentucky on the other hand, is very open to the idea, and is actually using that as a positive for themselves, basically pitching him an opportunity to come in and be Kentucky’s Charles Woodson.
Oh, so you can just steal all time greats from other teams now?

Well, he could be Ohio State's Chris Gamble- no, wait... I didn't do that correctly.

He could be Ohio State's Chuck Bednarik.

That is a great source of humor from beginning to end.

It certainly helps also that UK currently has the #1 recruiting class in the country according to Rivals.com

UK's #1 (now #2) class consists of five 4* & twelve 3*.
Ohio State currently has six 4* & five 3*.

Anyone want to put money on how many 4-5* players each school ends the recruiting season with?

So when I went over there, my job was to make some noise, and rattle some cages, and I feel like I did just that.

...and therein lies the real motivation. Woodcock is just attention whoring.

I am sure that Ginn Sr. absolutely loves when Michigan is willing to take his kids that don't have Ohio State offers.

Unfortunately for Brady Hoke and his favorite cheerleader / buffet busting partner Sam Webb, that isn't the case with Lattimore and Smith.

It is almost as if the coveted OSU offer of today doesn't carry the same prestige as it did just 3 or 4 years ago for these Glenville kids. Recruiting has changed. You are seeing more college coaches taking a National rather than Regional recruiting approach. More coaches are getting into their schools and homes and trying to snag the Ohio High School talent from Ohio, exposing them to more than just OSU. Some are finding that the likelihood of them getting on the field sooner somewhere else is a better option. And lately, they almost seem annoyed that they are being anointed the next super star @ OSU before committing anywhere.

I think we are going to continue to see a trend of OSU offered Glenville kids go OOS b/c of these reasons as well as Urban's Nat'l approach to recruiting and only going after a Glenville kid here and there.

Lattimore seems far from being a Buckeye lock hearing him speak.

You act as if Glenville was some sort of secret until recently. Coaches from all around the country have been after Glenville kids for at least a decade (Troy Smith, Teddy Ginn, Donte Whitner). This staff won't lose many Glenville kids that they really want.

I hope you stretched before making so many large leaps.

Glenville kids have always talked a good game, in on part because coach Ginn asks them to drag out the process to increase exposure for their other prospects.

People keep saying urban will go national and snub Ohio because they hear it enough elsewhere. I didn't run the numbers for this class but the last two saw him offer the same bulk of the top 7 Ohioans, then he becomes selective that like JT. The difference is that when he misses on Dymonte he doesn't fall back on a sleeper from Ohio. He goes to get another super like Bell, Mitchell or Clark to replace the local kid he lost. JT had a killer eye for spotting hidden gems but they also were weak at winning high profile recruitments down the stretch and would occasionally settle.

All of which is beside the point that urban offered three Glenville kids, with his first verbal of the class coming from a project in Jones.

There are far too many personal feelings and assumptions in your post that do not pertain to what Lattimore has said publicly and privately.

No one but Sam Webb believes they are major players up north. They aren't reviled like they were under Carr (after pierre woods) or disrespected like they were under RR. Ginn Sr likes hoke a lot but they are still a fallback to OSU.

IMO, TSUN is less of a concern than USC, Oregon, and the SEC for these two...
