Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers)

On Roethlisberger trade, Steelers likely have passed the point of no return | ProFootballTalk.com

For a week, the Steelers failed to nip in the bud the notion that he is available via trade. Now, for nearly a full day, they have been actively shopping him to other teams, in the wake of the announcement of his six-game suspension for violating the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy.

So what happens if the Steelers can't trade him for a first-round pick? Do they go for a Donovan McNabb package, with a second-round pick in 2010 and something more in 2011?

Or do they simply bring him back?

It could be too late for the Steelers to unring this bell, now that they're trying to move the elveventh pick from the 2004 draft. Really, how often does a starting quarterback move from trading block to his old job?

To date, Roethlisberger's camp has been silent. With the Steelers' immediate response to the news of a suspension to be to commence the process of dumping him, maybe he has decided that he wants out.

Either way, this story won't be wrapping up any time soon. If he gets traded, it's actually only getting started.

Sources: Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger deal extremely unlikely - ESPN

Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers fielding phone calls from other teams about the availability of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger over the past couple of days, it is extremely unlikely a trade will occur, sources told ESPN.com on Thursday.
Multiple sources indicated the Steelers have not shopped Roethlisberger and have done nothing more than field phone calls. Many of the phone calls have come during the normal course of conversations of teams just checking in with the Steelers to see if they were willing to make other deals.

There wasn't all that much to it. I mostly remember the lawyer saying BB would do "everything and more" to comply with the Commish's demands to reduce the suspension (i.e.? not rape anybody else...strike that...not get caught raping anybody else.)

The good counselor's best defense was to offer the statement by the cop who resigned in disgrace over his handling of the preliminary investigation after spending the night partying with BB & his gang. As lame endorsements go, if it was a horse they woudda shot it.

Golic annoyingly kept repeating that attitudes fade with time & people mellow in their opinions. Personally, I don't forget garbage like this, no matter how much time passes. In other words, I don't own a copy of This Is It, and won't.

Pittsburgh zoo scrubs Ben Roethlisberger reference - ESPN

Lemieux replaces Roethlisberger at zoo

PITTSBURGH -- Disgraced Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been traded for NHL Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux -- at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.
Roethlisberger's name has been replaced with Lemieux's on a display that compares the height of elephants with other creatures.
Zoo spokeswoman Tracy Gray says some zoo visitors had expressed concerns about Roethlisberger's name on the display. She says Lemieux, the retired Pittsburgh Penguins star and team owner, is well-known and approximately the same height as Roethlisberger, about 6-foot-5.
The NFL has suspended Roethlisberger up to six games for his actions at a Georgia nightclub where a 20-year-old college student accused him of sexual assault last month. Roethlisberger wasn't charged with any crime.

I'm sure the zoo could find some appropriate location to feature Roethlisberger.

He might find a kindred spirit in the Western Lowland Gorilla.

I hear they have some of the same habits, especially in public.

Hines Ward: Ben Roethlisberger's suspension disappointing but justified - ESPN

Ward didn't really say anything bad, but by saying it is justified it really shows what his teammates really think of Ben, considering the unwritten culture of most NFL locker rooms, methinks.

The media doesn't get it. Ben has never been well liked in Pittsburgh by teh fans and players. You'd think a young QB with 2 super bowl rings would own the city. But he doesn't. His whining about nonexistant injuries and "101 degree fevers" doesn't resonate with Stiller-nation.

File under: Give Me a Fucking Break

You can see where this is going already - the quarterback and bankable personality gets his image rehabilitated while the commish gets to add fuel to his head injury prevention crusade.

How many other NFL degenerates have been examined for brain damage after they got into trouble?

This shit is even faker than Tiger's "sex addiction".

was not a rapist.

Therefore I conclude an athlete can absorb significant brain damage, even while being a moron in the first place, and not become a rapist.

Nice try Ben, but this myth is busted.

I have filed it already under CS (chicken shit). His manager maybe trying to conjur up a medical redshirt for the steelers qb. Kinda like sending tiger to a sex addiction detox facility like you said. spin doctors!
