No, no, no. TV is the only thing that matters. To use a baseball analogy, football is the catcher's mitt - TV is the hand controlling it. Delany is smart enough to see that those who control the television sets control the sport. This has more to do with the BTN than the teams playing on it.

At the moment the East Coast is an untapped resource. For the most part they're pro sports fans. But with the tens of millions of potential viewers out there, if we can develop them into actual viewers, dedicated sports fans, then we'll have a huge base from which to negotiate future TV contracts.

Delany plays the long game. He's two or three moves ahead of what we're seeing here. I don't necessarily know that I fully trust him - he's like the pet bear you're never sure is fully tame - but as Churchill said about Chennault, "I'm just glad that man is on our side."

The key word being "if we can develop them" and I'm not really sure there is a TON of evidence that will be the case. I mean it's not like these 2 are honestly going to be competing for conference titles, without any sort of significant success I don't see how they are going to make more people interested in their programs.

Sounds eerily similar to what was coming out of the Big XII (-2) before Nebraska came over. I think he knows the conference is dead meat and is trying to work out what's best for him without coming right out and saying it directly.

Yep. Coach K honestly wants to get everyone in a room to announce their intentions? Seriously?

If I'm Florida State and the University of Florida is going to make double what I'm making in TV revenue, I'd try to leave too. Same goes for Georgia Tech (with Georgia) and Clemson (with South Carolina).

Plus, you're in a conference that just gave Notre Dame a sweetheart deal.

Would still like to see them make a run at GA Tech. Can get to ATL from just about anywhere in the US and 4-5 million people in metro area. Lots of media and TV's. The only thing I noticed was the small number of sports teams that Tech has right now. Just 15 combined sports. They really cut back on the non-rev sports. No soccer, no wrestling, no LAX, no field hockey, no indoor track, no rifle/pistol, fencing, gymnastics, rowing.

I like how the Maryland fans think the BTN production values are amazing.
The Journey is phenomenal during bball season (they're still finding their footing in BB).

The rest is mediocre but so is ESPN outside of broadcasts.

Apparently ACCN is shot in a middle school basement.

Are they serious?

Although, I guess the Terp fans weren't around when Chris Martin was doing BTN football games and had to shoe-horn in catch phrases like "Fish Grease" and "Check Please".

I do like "The Journey" though (at times). Still remember when Evan Turner hit the buzzer beater in the B1G Tourney and they showed Illinois waiting in the tunnel (wanting to play TSUN).

Boise State, San Diego State and BYU have had conversations with Mountain West membership about the possibility of returning to the league, sources told ESPN.
The talks originated after last week's decision in Denver by the BCS commissioners to award an automatic access bowl berth to the highest-rated champion to the "Group of Five" conferences. That decision in essence put the Mountain West on equal footing, as far as playoff access is concerned, with the Big East starting in 2014.
Sources said Monday those talks are expected to bring on greater significance after Maryland announced it was leaving the ACC for the Big Ten. ESPN reported Rutgers will announce Tuesday it is also leaving for the Big Ten. That means the Big East will lose Rutgers and then potentially either UConn or Louisville to the ACC.
A San Diego State official said: "Nothing changes, we are committed to the Big East."
With the Big East losing two more schools and having the same playoff access as the Mountain West, Boise State and San Diego State are reconsidering their options. One of the main reasons both schools opted to join the Big East was the draw of more television revenue.

The fact that Mike Krzyzewski has publicly voiced concerns regarding the stability of the ACC suggests to me two things:

1. UNC has been talking to Jim Delany.

2. Mike Krzyzewski knows that UNC has been talking to Jim Delany.

3. Mike Krzyzewski phoned a Duke booster to pay off Lance Thomas' debt and made the store sign a non-disclosure

I mean, when the Big Ten is talking East Coast satellite office, there better be more than two East Coast Big Ten schools
