Bill Belichick (Former New England Patriots Head Coach)

Re: What do you need to be the best?

Step 1: Get the hell out of Cleveland.

Bill Belichick Was Once A Starter Jacket Model

Bill Belichick has been so successful as the head coach of the Patriots, it's easy to forget he spent five years in charge of the Browns in the early 1990s. Or that four of those seasons in Cleveland ended with losing records, including '95, when the team more or less mailed it in after then-owner Art Modell made clear his intentions to carpetbag the franchise to Baltimore. At some point in those pre-hoodie days, the former Kaufmann's department store enlisted a young Belichick to pitch those oh-so-'90s pullover jackets every suburban high school kid was rocking at the time. Tom Brady can have his Uggs, but Coach Hoodie will always have this (click the image to enlarge). Just try to look at it and not imagine Belichick with Boyz II Men in his portable CD player.

Bill Belichick rumors: At least two teams hope to meet with legendary head coach if he and Patriots part ways

Will this be the last of Belichick in New England?

he 2023 season will be over on Monday for 18 of the NFL's 32 teams, and the New England Patriots will be one of those teams for the third time in four seasons without future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady.

The Patriots are the worst scoring offense in the league this season (14.6 points per game), and sitting with a 4-12 record, the most losses of Bill Belichick's head-coaching career, there is a chance New England is going to "mutually part ways" -- essentially fire -- their six-time Super Bowl champion head coach.

Per The Athletic, the Patriots have a meeting set for next week between owner Robert Kraft, team president Jonathan Kraft and Belichick to determine Belichick's future with the team going forward. He reportedly wants to continue coaching, but Dianna Russini reports some who work for the team are "expecting changes" and beginning to network elsewhere. She also wrote that the Washington Commanders, who are expected to fire head coach Ron Rivera, and the Las Vegas Raiders hope to meet with Belichick should he be available.

Two of the greatest the last two days. Man, if Harbaugh hangs it up at TCUN today it will be a trifecta (note sarcasm font).

Good article:

Bill Belichick's Patriots legacy: The NFL's greatest dynasty

We've closed the book on the greatest dynasty in the history of the NFL. The Patriots and coach Bill Belichick are expected to part ways Thursday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter and Mike Reiss, ending a tenure that lasted nearly a quarter of a century. In an era in which the league's rules are designed to produce parity and short-term success, Belichick's New England teams went 266-121 and made it to nine Super Bowls, winning six. They had a stretch of 17 division championships in 19 seasons. We might never see another NFL coach put together a two-decade spell like his again.

Of course, you can't tell the story of the league over the past 25 years without a heavy dose of Belichick. He figures into so many of the most dramatic moments and compelling stories in recent NFL history, both as the beloved underdog and the hated favorite. He's one of the few coaches in American sports to transcend many of its players; show someone who isn't a football fan a photo of a dour-looking man wearing a hoodie with cutoff sleeves and they'll probably be able to identify that it's Belichick.

We've seen the clips of Belichick's most notable moments in New England so many times, but actually considering them from how he impacted things as opposed to from the perspective of his players and using the benefit of a modern perspective reinforces how unique and remarkable Belichick's tenure in New England was, both good and bad. There are a couple of questions about Belichick's future I want to get to at the end, but there's so much to say about the past that needs to be considered as we evaluate one of the landmark coaching tenures of our lifetime. To get a sense of what happened and how we'll look at his time with the Patriots in the decades to come, though, you have to start at the beginning.

Need a variety talk show with Bill and Nick mumbling about life and cultural happenings.

Ok, maybe not that but I would listen to those 2 talk Xs and Os all day. Would be a refreshing angle in sports media - actual analysis!

Throw Urban in there, too. Maybe we could actually learn something about the sport instead of just having talking heads with frosted tips running their cockholsters.
