Head Coach
Former Game Champion
  • Wow - a record 8 NFL head coaches were canned in the aftermath of this season. That's 25% of them. There will inevitably be the usual reshuffling and retread coaches and coordinators hired here and there, but it'll be interesting to see what truly new blood the NFL brings in.

I, for one, would LOVE to see Coach Tressel give it a go in the league, though he's downplayed his interest in it multiple times, iirc...

    Thus far, the vacancies are:

    Browns
    Bears
    Eagles
    Chiefs
    Jaguars
    Chargers
    Cardinals
    Bills

I'm surprised the Cowboys aren't on that list...

Yep, it's the same ol' fuckers year in and year out, just with different teams. It seems that once you get to head coach in the NFL, you're set for life because you get to bounce around from team to team...

The fact that Norv Turner and Chan Gailey, neither of whom has had any measurable success in the NFL or college, have remained employed this long is unbelievable.

I read that as "Norv Turner to the Browns".

Oh, wait - has he already coached there? I honestly can't remember all the mediocre teams he's helmed.

Turner was only an assistant in college. Chan Gailey, on the other hand....

P.S. - Mularkey still employed, Jags shouldn't be on the list of vacancies....yet.

 Just realized this when I saw the article today.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars fired coach Mike Mularkey Thursday after just one season, the worst in franchise history.

New general manager David Caldwell made the announcement, giving him a clean slate heading into 2013. Caldwell said he made the move just 48 hours after he was hired because he wants to immediately explore every avenue possible to turn the Jaguars around.
