Buckeye Traditions (Merged)

Imo this isn't a tradition and I like to think I have more class than to use it.
And neither would Woody, Or Coop, or Bruce , or JT or any other coach. Nor would they want it used.

I disagree. In 1970 someone printed up the "Fuck Michigan" bumper stickers and a law student was arrested for violating obscene literature laws. Judge James A. Pearson dismissed the case concluding that it would be absurd to interpret the sticker to mean "have sexual intercourse with the state of Michigan." He further concluded that most of the citizens of central
Ohio would feel that the bumper sticker had some redeeming value.

It is at least a 37 year old tradition. Older than the tunnel of pride or the singing of Carmen Ohio. It may not be for everyone but its part of the fabric of The Game.

The Best Damn Band in the Land
    • All Brass is Better, Bee-yotch
    • The Traditional Ramp Entrance
    • Script Ohio
      • 1936
    • Lyrics to know - not negotiable
      • Buckeye Battle Cry
      • Across the Field
      • Carmen Ohio
      • Hang on Sloopy - OSUMB version
      • "Don't give a..."
        • OK, so the band doesn't usually play that one. It's still a song to know.

Good stuff. Another tradition is the Skull Session. tOSU teammates gather in St. Johns Arena. The band plays and is a mini-pep rally for the players and fans.

For the most part that's a great list, but I'm a little confused about the 1995 one. Was there a game that year? What do those letters and numbers after "1995" mean? Can you actually use them in that combination? I don't recall anything like that.

1995 is a fabrication of the left wing wolverine media. in all reality it never happened.

Bill Willis, a Hall of Fame guard with the NFL's Cleveland Browns who also was Ohio State's first black football All-American, died Tuesday evening, a university spokesman said. He was 86.
Willis had been battling a short illness, said school spokesman Steve Snapp, who was notified of the death by one of Willis' sons. No other details were released.
Willis, an All-American in 1943 and 1944, had his No. 99 jersey retired at halftime of the Wisconsin-Ohio State game on Nov. 3 at Ohio Stadium

Something I heard, he had his ring stolen a while back. (The original ring not the one they presented him at halftime) Hours before his death, the police were able to return his original ring.

RIP

A true Buckeye fan should know a little about the 1987 scUM game, which to me was one of the most satisfying wins in TOSU history. Coach Earle Bruce, IMO, has never received the "love" that he has deserved. To see our beloveds out on the field before the game with the "Earle" headbands on is something that gives me chills as I type this 20 years after the fact.

Coach Bruce carried on exactly what Coach Hayes instilled in TOSU football. He recruited scholar-athletes, and was much more concerned with molding his players into great "men" than he was into molding them into great "players." 20 years after his unwarranted dismissal, he remains probably the greatest Buckeye fan on the planet. His "rip their head off and shit down their throat" mentality seems to intensify as he ages, and I for one, LOVE it.

That definitely qualifies as something that OSU fans should know about coach Bruce. I would go as far to say that OSU fans should know the nature of the departure of every OSU coach that was here in their own lifetime.

That was the game in which Chris Spielman had 14 solo tackles, which is tied for 2nd-most in Ohio State history (his 29-tackle effort was in the 1986 Michigan game). The Bucks won 23-20, at Michigan, in Earle's final game as head coach (he was fired after an ugly come-from-ahead loss to Iowa the week before). The Bucks declined a bowl invitation that season, even though they ended up with a 6-4-1 record.

Speaking of coaches, we have a long tradition of sending Assistant Coaches and past Graduate Assistants on to becoming Head Coaches. Shouldn't you at least be able to name some of the Assistant's who went on to become successful Head Coaches?

Bo
J.T.
Ron Zook
Glen Mason
Mark Dantonio

Just to name a few off my head that came to me when I wrote this, I know this list could be endless.
