Actually, I don't see how extracting blood to be manipulated and then reintroduced at an injury site can be accomplished in a "non-invasive" manner, let along "non-evasive."

Lots of Fail in this article - but then, it is ESPN.

Back in school--good for him:bow:

Bob Baptist

Ohio State wrestler Josh Demas posted on his Twitter account last week a photo of one of his new classmates in an economics course.

The summer semester began June 18. Without an NBA team or contract to call his own for next season, Greg Oden re-enrolled at Ohio State while rehabilitating from his latest knee surgery. Some reports say he could be healthy enough to resume his basketball career during the 2012-13 season.

An Ohio State spokesperson confirmed that Oden is enrolled.

Oft-injured Oden wants to play this season
July 12, 2012

Injury-riddled Greg Oden could be returning to the NBA this season.

That?s the word from Oden?s agent, Mike Conley, who got a call earlier this week from Oden. He said his client has changed his tune from wanting to take this season off.

?(Oden) called me, and he was kind of excited,?? Conley said Thursday in a phone interview with FOX Sports Florida. ?I think he?s motivated ?. He wants to play. He had said he wanted to take this season off, but he?s backed off from that ?. He?s open to playing this season. I think he will play this season.??

Oden, the star-crossed center who was taken No. 1 in the 2007 NBA draft by Portland ahead of No. 2 Kevin Durant, hasn?t played in an NBA game since Dec. 5, 2009. Out of 394 possible games in his NBA career, he?s missed 312.

Oden has had five surgeries on both his knees since entering the NBA, including two surgeries last February, one being his third microfracture procedure. He was waived by the Trail Blazers last March, making him a free agent.

Oden was quoted in a Grantland article last May about his plan to take the entire 2012-13 season off. But Oden told Conley this week about the change in his thinking.

?He?s starting to work out,?? Conley said of Oden, who was recently cleared for workouts, feeling better about his situation. ?He?s excited. You can tell he?s getting antsy. At the end of the day, I want him to finish out his NBA career. He?s still pretty young (24).??

HUGHES NEWS AND VIEWS: Oden's fight through adversity includes stop in Terre Haute
David Hughes The Tribune-Star

TERRE HAUTE ? Multiple knee surgeries have prevented Greg Oden from playing center in an NBA regular-season game since Dec. 5, 2009.

But they haven?t kept the former Terre Haute resident from returning to help the Terre Haute Boys & Girls Club raise money for its various programs each of the past six years.

Back Thursday evening to attend the annual outdoor dinner to promote the ?Travis Smith Memorial Golf Classic Hosted By Greg Oden,? a private event which will take place today at the Country Club of Terre Haute, Oden told me that he hopes to resume his NBA career someday.

The big question is when.

An unrestricted free agent, the 7-foot Oden disputed Internet reports that he wants to play for the reigning NBA champion Miami Heat and that he intends to play next season.

These rumors were fueled by a si.com report that quoted his agent, Mike Conley Sr., saying Oden ?has talked about Miami.? Oden?s denial doesn?t mean he is ruling out a return in 2012-13, but he stressed that it?s unlikely.

?I would love to play [in 2012-13], but I?m not going to rush anything,? he said Thursday. ?I need to take a year off. What I told Mike was ?Look, I want to get back with a team. I want to play. If there?s a chance that later on in the [NBA] year, if I feel good or if I?m healthy enough to play, I would love to play this year.? That?s the conversation we had. I think some people kinda blew that up and took his words and kinda changed them around. I know I need to get healthy first before I do anything.?

Former No. 1 pick Oden drawing little interest

An unrestricted free agent, Greg Oden is available, but apparently without a team in sight. That sounds a little weird to say, considering Oden starred at Ohio State during the 2006-07 season, leading the Buckeyes to the NCAA championship game as a freshman and becoming the No. 1 overall pick (by Portland) in the NBA draft that followed. But that was five years ago, and two knee surgeries and a few assorted injuries later, the 7-foot-0 center has drawn little interest in the market. In fact, he admitted the interest hasn't been there at all. "It's not like teams are out there telling people they want me, because they're not right now," Oden told the Terre Haute (Ind.) Tribune-Star. Oden has played in just 82 total games in his NBA career.

I still think, if he can work out by fall, the Cav's have nothing to lose by giving him a shot. The Irving is taking over that team and some of the new scorers, a dominant defender in the middle might make them an All-Star caliber team. Not a championship team mind you, but All-Star caliber.

Granted, that all depends on if Greg can even ever play the game again but he would be very cheap at least for the signing and you never know with technology these days.

I don't know why he isn't getting any interest. You would think plenty of teams would be willing to throw a minimum contract at him. Maybe he isn't willing to play for the min. If I were a GM there is no way I sign him to anything more than the min with performance incentives for minutes played, rebounds, blocks, etc. I'd give him 5 mil if he could play 25 min a game, and average 20 pts+blocks+rebounds (any mix of the three) a game.

Thats what I was thinking. Whats to lose really if he doesnt make the team or cant play on those knees? I'm sure they have a way to write off loss in those cases or they have insurance policies to cover it. IF they guy can actually play this time around, thats free money.

Baptist: Former Blazers C Greg Oden Back In The Gym
By Ben Golliver on Oct 23

Former Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden, who is still recovering from multiple knee surgeries earlier this year, was back in the gym this week with his alma mater, The Ohio State University Buckeyes.

Bob Baptist of the Columbus Dispatch briefly notes that former Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden, who is still recovering from multiple knee surgeries earlier this year, was back in the gym this week with his alma mater, The Ohio State University Buckeyes.

...Aside from Greg Oden riding an exercise bike off to the side and, afterward, shooting flat-footed in the lane, here are some of my first impressions for the 2012-13 season...

Oden, 24, was reportedly taking summer classes at Ohio State with plans to sit out the 2012-13 season and pick up his NBA comeback, if possible, later on down the road. He has not played an NBA game since December 5, 2009. He also recently expressed a desire to be a gym teacher sometime in the future.

Contrary to earlier speculation by his agent, injury-riddled center Greg Oden won?t return to the NBA this season. The former OSU standout told the Big Ten Network last week that he will take the year off, even though he misses playing the game.

?I sit and watch (Ohio State) practice every day, and I just want to go out there and play and show them some things. It is tough to stay off (the court) when you know you can do some things,? he said in an interview during Ohio State?s game against Northern Kentucky.

Oden turns 25 in January and knows that if his knees ever stay healthy, he still could have a long career as an NBA center.

?I?ve got to think positive,? he said. ?I?ve got to get healthy first. Once that happens, I?ll get out there and definitely give it another try. I?ll see what I can do.?

Oden also said the current Buckeyes need more from his old position if they?re going to compete for a fourth straight Big Ten championship.

?They need to do something offensively on the inside more before they can start beating the Big Ten,? he said. ?I think that was the problem (in the loss) against Duke.?
