Oden to undergo knee procedure

Greg Oden has microfracture surgery

The Portland Trail Blazers said Monday that a procedure to clear debris out of Oden's left knee resulted in another microfracture surgery. Oden had the surgery in Vail, Colo. Although it was originally expected to be an arthroscopic procedure to clean out the 7-footer's knee, the surgeon determined there was additional damage.

Poor Greg so much potential yet his body can't carry it. I don't think it's ever going to get better for him at this point. However at least it didn't happen while he was at OSU. He's made some money and had his surguries paid for and performed by the best.

This is the silver lining in all of it. It's a shame that Greg will probably never get a chance to live up to his potential, but at least the guy got a chance to cash in on his potential and get picked #1. He's made significantly more money already than a lot of very successful businessmen make in their entire lives, so he'll be fine. It just has to be extremely frustrating and disheartening for him to work so hard and constantly have all of it go to waste.

Even more impressive is the fact that Bowie escaped from the shadow of being picked ahead of Jordan.

On what planet? I've heard it twice already this morning along with Oden/Durant comparisons.

If I'm a 7 footer and Portland has the top pick I'm staying in school. At least money should never be a problem for Oden, having collected $20 million already, but I'm sure he wanted to actually play.

Greg Oden puts Portland home up for sale
by Zach Mink

Former No.1 pick Greg Oden is putting his Portland home up for sale, according to a report from Chris Haynes at CSNNW.com. The decision signals an end to a tumultuous four-year stretch with the Trailblazers for the oft-injured center, who is currently out for the season after undergoing his fifth knee surgery in his NBA career.

Oden has played in only 82 games in four years, and is widely considered one of the biggest busts in the history of the NBA Draft, drawing comparisons to injury-plagued Sam Bowie, who was selected ahead of Michael Jordan in the 1984 draft. Reigning scoring champion Kevin Durant was selected directly after Oden with the second pick.

Oden had tantalizing talent coming out of Ohio State, but has not been able to overcome multiple injuries to both knees. The 7-foot center has averaged 9.4 points and 7.3 rebounds in his short career.

The Ohio native will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year, but still has months of recovery time after undergoing an unexpected second microfracture surgery on his left knee in February.

Cavs need to take a flyer on him. If he doesnt make it, he doesnt. They now have 4 of the top 40 picks in this draft. Pick up Oden and see if they can strike gold. If they don't there are younger players going to be on the roster with those picks coming up. They need a sharp shooter, a center/power forward and quality depth. Anthony Davis will definitely be on the radar. If Greg could find a way to get healthy enough to play, the Cavs would be a great spot to fit in.
