So is it common practice to pay these types of "assistants"? I'm guessing that many/most schools have hostesses...wondering if they all receive some sort of stipend. Now, how one goes from paying the hostess to the hostess paying the prospective athlete...not sure how to find evidence of that.

No.

Some schools will provide financial aid depending on your parents income level. I interned for FSU basketball, and wasn't qualified, while others could receive around $500 a semester.

But paying straight cash?? Absolutely not.

My first question: why are the payments so irregular?

My best guess, is they're going to say they reimbursed the hostesses for expenses. Just seems odd though....

A cynical person could also believe that the hostesses were paid for 'services rendered' to recruits, rather than simply passing money on to them.

Yeah, I have to admit I'm not THAT cynical. Now, I could see them passing along cash or gifts to athletes, but I would (perhaps naively) have a hard time believing that the dept actively pay the women for services rendered.

From the comments...

I suppose the five male Tigerettes are for the ?don?t ask, don?t tell? football recruits.

I wonder if any of them are named "Bailey"

Whore Eagle!

Luckily, this sort of thing doesn?t happen at Bama

(Which was responded to with:)

Roll Whore Roll!!!!!

As a parent of a former ?Dunkin Darlin?, who worked very closely with the Tigerettes, I can tell you that they work hard, do a lot of administrative work, a lot of hosting and put in lots of hours at low pay. Nothing to see here?.It is honorable work, work that is kept up on time records, and no different than Suzie or Johnny who work in the library to make money to go to school.

WTF is A Dunkin darllin?

What a freaking rip-off. My wife was a hostess at another SEC school and never got paid a dime

Poor bastard.

SEC athletic directors snub Cam Newton

The title says it all. I think ESPiN is probably more disappointed than sCam is. Actually I'm sure he could care less but damn those folks over at ESPiN are sure on his jock.
That is the first time in a long time I clicked on an ESPN article. At least 2 or 3 years. I won't click on one again. Fuck that noise.
