Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Stole this from the OBR forums (Free) http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=149&f=1547&t=11115111

Ian Rapoport: @RapSheet: On the Browns search for a coach: Told there are already 4 candidates, 2 college, 2 pro. Aaron Kromer is one of the pro coaches.

@AlbertBreer: And the Browns are expected to be in the Chip Kelly sweepstakes, which kick off in earnest after Thursday's Fiesta Bowl.

Jason La Canforna: The Browns and Eagles will both pursue Chip Kelly aggressively. Eagles also high on Jay Gruden. Both like Bill O'Brien as well ...

I'd take McDaniels over Kromer. Is it possible that this [censored]ing nightmare could get even worse? - stay tuned boys and girls, same bat time, same bat channel.
I'm trying to be optimistic with the new ownership/management. But 14 years of futility really scars you as a fan. It's almost an exercise in futility to expect them to not fail. If they hire somebody like Kromer, or even McDaniels, I won't be mad. I'll just do what I've been doing for most of the last decade...chortle under my breath, move on, and start thinking who else will be available in 730 days.

Yep at this point it's about the Browns leadership proving they know what they are doing. I'm well past the point of believing these people have a plan that will actually work, even with the new group.

Alex Okafor would be a pretty solid pick. Browns need a play making WR too. Not having a 2nd round pick is going to hurt. Maybe they would reach for somebody like Terrance Williams in round one. He would be a better pick than Te'o IMO.

For the first time since Braylon Edwards gay arse was here, this isn't an issue for the Browns. And that 2nd rounder is the reason why.

I cannot think of anyone that could have done better than 5-11 with this team
Not saying I'd stick w Shurmur... just can't imagine anyone doing much diff with this roster... change coaches like underwear.. but sooner or later you better find a FA that is worth over-paying for... cuz #6 in Rd 1 then not again till Rd 3 ain't gonna change that rcd much.. best hope for an easier schedule

PS I'd hand Dawson a check... and tell him to fill it out

I'd ask exhawg who the next coach should be.... but he'd better be spending all his time figuring out the Cavs next draft.. Litl, this may be your assignment

Well when the ownership and FO want "Their Guy" and not "The Guy" (in the example of Heckert) it becomes a great indication of what the future may hold.

Personally... I think this [Mark May] train continues on.

Call me crazy, but I just don't think that Haslam is going to be that stupid. He wrote a billion-dollar check for the Browns. If he wants "His guy", its because he believes he can win.

Having said that, I have no horses in the race. Never cared about the Browns before. I hope they do well, and I think Haslam is the guy to do it.

A lot of people want "their guy" believing they can win. Taking a step back and looking into the reality of "your guy" not being a winner, or in a worst case scenario, franchise breaker (McDaniels) is the cold, hard truth.

Sometimes the people we want on our side aren't always the best option.

I love my friends dearly, I also recognize a couple of them aren't exactly the greatest individuals on earth as well.

Take a look at Jerry Jones. The man feels he's a football genius - yet off the top of my head I know at least a dozen people who could probably assemble a more stable franchise if they had the money.

I think I would be better served working on the Cavs next draft:biggrin2: Saying that, I would like to see Roman from the 49ers as the next HC but I don't see that happening.

Banner looks like a little reasonable to me and I just hope that Haslam can control him.

Also, Cribbs might not be gone after all. He just wants to play more but the bottom line is for how much is he willing to play for.

They will let Dawson go and it will come back to haunt us.
