Some of the GM candidates on the Browns' radar, according to league sources:

David Caldwell, Atlanta Falcons
Doug Whaley, Buffalo Bills
Ray Farmer, Kansas City Chiefs
Steve Keim, Arizona Cardinals
Jason Licht, Arizona Cardinals
Mike Lombardi, NFL Network

These are some stud programs.. I feel very comfortable with this list :smash:
It doesn't seem like it's gonna matter. Sounds like Banner is going to very much have his hands in the pot. Not sure how I feel about that. But, fuck it, can't get any worse. Worst case scenario: they continue to be my go-to Sunday comedy fix.

Banner wanting to have his hand in the pot is what I have been nervous about for well over a month. And yes it can get worse. Stevie Wonder can see that Heckert had the team on the right track and it doesn't take much to get the team on the wrong track (See Butch Davis and Pete Garcia).

And consider this gem from Banner:

Banner added, "there was also an element of feeling the need to kind of maybe create a fresh energy and a fresh start. Sometimes something new, even if it it's not any better, can create that kind of momentum and energy."

Are you kidding me?!? Stating that something new, even if it is not better, can create momentum and energy is naive at best, idiotic at worst. Something new can readily create energy and momentum because it is fucking new!! But if it isn't better, then it will not last. Yes, be concerned about Banner as it could get worse!

Eh, I get it depends on your perspective. I expect nothing but ineptitude and 11-12 loss seasons from this franchise every single year. Would 12-13 losses a year be a significant difference? I never get overly excited about so-called progress. I only laugh at the ineptitude. Sometime during 2008, apathy washed over me in a beautiful wave. I will not invest anything into this team until I see results.

Except for the fact that this team is actually in position to be able to make a jump next year for once. This is one of the youngest rosters in the whole league, a lot of first and second year players that got a lot of time to play and develop this year. There are obviously still some holes on both sides of this roster but they have plenty of cap room to sign a few solid free agents and with the right picks this team could easily be staring 8-8 in the face next year. Especially with a fully healthy Trent Richardson. Heckert had this roster going in the right direction and if Banner's ego is the reason we end up with a guy that can't do as well as Heckert has been then I'm going to very angry.

I see Holmgren has thrown his name out as being available for HC positions....:tongue2:

Someone needs to throw out a Attention W...e picture.

I have to say, the more I read on the Browns Scout site the more intrigued I am with Chip Kelly. Also, the more I read on that site from some posters the more I feel I am hanging out on the Penn State boards. Ughhh.

Weeden? If he expects to be a starter longer than this upcoming year (I hope not the full year because he's turrible), he's got another thing coming.

He should start looking for another profession this off season

I don't think Heckert will be out of a job for long. He was the best GM that the Browns have had since they returned. Since it sounds like Banner will have say in the roster they need to find a GM that is great at evaluating talent.

Aside from the Bills, those teams actually have talent. The Falcons are obvious, the Chiefs and Cardinals have talent everywhere except QB and OL for the Cardinals. Everywhere else they're actually not bad. Chiefs had five pro bowlers.

That being said, don't read this as me endorsing any of those guys. There has to be someone better.
