Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Kelly might have toned down his sideline attitude - but you think grown men are going to respond to him blowing up in their faces over simple things?

... not likely.

That's Brian Kelly, Chip Kelly is slightly more mellow and Chip hasn't forced any kids into scaffolds when there is a 50 mph wind blowing....

Who in the hell would Kelly use to run his offense? Richardson is a power back, Hardesty doesn't have enough speed or healthy knees, and we have no QB suited for it at all. Kelly might work in the NFL somewhere, but I can't see a worse fit for him than Cleveland.

i know, scat backs like jonathan stewart and lagarette blount would never work in oregon's offense.

Good point. Hire Mike Belotti. Please be clear to him that the Browns have to play the Steelers at least twice per year.

Having said that, the RB position may not be the most glaring area of personnel deficiencies. Especially given evaluating Richardson with actually having 2 broken ribs most of the year. (Am I the only one, or did Hardesty seem really fast the last few weeks? btw, Owen Marecic still sucks)

Outside of Weeden, and whoever the QB would be, you know... getting killed... and assuming we're not going to acquire Jeramiah Masoli. My concern is that the one thing that HAS been done well the last 2 or 3 years, partly because of the laboer issue and partly because of Lerner's order to keep the cap number low, is that we do have a nice pile of young 2nd string players that are developing, or good role players (except Owen Marecic), like I don't know if Robertson is gonna be a lot more thean a Nickel LB, but, he's a pretty good one (why can't owen Marecic be more like Zach Boren)... and what I DON'T want to see is a coach coming in who brings a bunch of system guys with him as filler a la Mangini getting every ex-Jet off the scrap heap (it tended not to matter much because they were replacing scrap heap players - so I mean if they want to replace Marecic, that's fine.). I'd rather someone come in and add impact players to the core we have, especially on Defense.

Right, because they didn't have other speed guys to go with them or anything, especially at the QB position :roll2:
They didn't.

Masoli - ran a 4.5, played like a 4.6-4.7 type of guy

RB Johnson - "the program's fastest RB through 40 yds at 4.66" ... ran a 4.56 at pro day

WR Scott - 4.56

WR Maehl - 4.62 combine (though his agility times were better)

WR Williams - 4.47 pro day

Dixon was before Blount, and Blount barely played in 2009 (89 yds) with LaMichael.

Who was Belotti's offensive coordinator when Stewart and Blount were under-classmen?

I really don't see Chip Kelly coming into any NFL franchise and making wholesale roster changes. The guy has said it before, but if he had a team that was better suited to run power I football, he'd do it.

Too many people are caught up on his current system rather than his understanding of football in general and what works.

I get it, yes. On the other hand, there is a tendency - by anyone - to gravitate to those things that you're most comfortable with.

The read posted above was actually a pretty great read. Pretty easy to tell who hasn't read it. :p

Eh, I'm actually not for or against Kelly per se. What I am about is consistency and building an organizational and talent structure to win in the long term. No knock on Mike Tomlin, but, is that him, or the Steelers. (Obviously its both, to one degree or another).

really, belotti? i wonder who his OC was and who called all the plays while stewart was there.

people apparently have vast misconception about what oregon's bread and butter plays are. they aren't the zone read.
