    Excellent article.

In Hawk's interview from the first day of minicamp, he had praise for all his coaches at OSU, but credited Coach Fickell with being the one to really push his game to the next level. Tremendous respect... very nice to see.

Many may fear that Fickell will bail for a HC job before Heacock steps down as DC...I would like to think not. Fickell will make a hellacious DC, and I think he'd be satisfied with being the DC at Ohio State as much as he would being a HC at any other school.

I would never have guessed by looking at them! But then, I didn't realize the true color of the Buckeye leaves either. :)

So would it be safe to assume that he is the heir apparent for Def. Coordinator?

This certainly doesnt bode well for the teams future. Not that we cant rebound, but it sucks to lose a young guy that has been so effective in cranking out great players on both Saturdays and Sundays.

Cant believe he might leave OSU in a sideways move. If need be, OSU should make Fickell the lone DC - he is that good.

To the insiders - how would him leav ing effect our 09 recruits?

Sere, this is being discussed a bit in the rumor mill under "coaching changes," nothing earth shattering in there either, one nugget from Grad though.

Although I would be suprised if Fickell left (i'm not an insider, probably cannot be considered an outsider either) JT does an excellent job replacing departed coaches, so I'm sure he'd find someone else energetic and driven to take over the LB coaching. It would probably be a bit of a bump with the youth in the LB corp, but it's be fine.
