Ed "LL" Warinner (Run Game Coordinator FAU)

Question for those in the know: Be it that Coach Warriner is in his early 50s, is there really a strong chance that he'll take on the role of a HC elsewhere or just enjoy what he has going on with tOSU?

Not in the know on this particular question, but my thoughts are this: If Herman departs after this season for a HC job, we just promote him internally to head OC (not a stretch, he is already assistant OC). Otherwise, I would think that Warriner would be a premiere HC target and at his age, he would likely want to take the promotion. Just my opinion though.

Heard Warriner's name mentioned as a 'top 5' HC candidate on the Tim Brando radio show on the way to golf course. Mayhaps that is why the OL recruits are not going 'all in' for the Buckeyes? If Warriner is leaving, who would become the OL coach? Later thought I heard his name as HC for Kansas. Not sure I'd take that sinking ship as my first HC go around, might not come out so well. Not a lot in the Kansas cupboard, with all the JC players Weiss added. They'd be done with eligibility before a system could get installed. Go Bucks

Warriner was actually the OC for Kansas when they had Mangino and made their BCS run so he has been there when they've had pretty major success. I think Kansas has a legit shot of landing him if they offer but I know they've been talking about maybe going a little younger and have been looking at David Beaty at A&M. Those two jump out to me as they both have the links to the school.

Even though I really like Herman...I almost hope he gets a HC job so we can promote Warriner to OC and perhaps keep him. He didn't put lipstick on a pig...he also got that pig a purse, dress, and matching shoes. Sorry I don't have a better metaphor but what he has done here is nothing short of amazing.
A lot of folks may not know because they're such a train wreck now, but Warriner was the OC for some pretty potent offenses at Kansas from 07-09. I think he's more than capable of stepping in when Herman lands his HC gig.

Very true, which is why I am more than ok with him taking over there...not only do we keep him as the OL coach, but he is capable as an OC. Plus Urban is going to primarily run the show, so it is moreso a figurehead deal...basically you get more input on UFM's offense than the rest as the OC haha.

No way I would make him the OC. He is great at what he is doing right now, and why add responsibilities and stress to this man's life.

Because other schools will come a knockin' soon for a HC job for Warriner. I would love to keep him exclusively as an OL coach but that is not likely a realistic blueprint to keeping him in Columbus.
