College Football Right Meow: Week 4

After week two's results, Poobert was super excited about week three. He came up to the bedroom at 8:45 and got me out of bed so he could watch Gameday. He kept saying, "Come on, Josh. THEY'RE COMING TO OUR CITAY!"

I got up, got dressed, went downstairs, turned on the TV for him, and he promptly crawled into one of his beds and went to sleep. What a butthole!

He must have known what was coming though, because the noon games all sucked and made me wish I had taken a nap too. After that, the Buckeyes played like they were half-asleep and made me want to close my eyes for most of the time throughout. The late games all delivered though. Close contests, crazy plays, upsets and intrigue were taking place everywhere, and it lasted until nearly 2 AM when BYU's attempts at a third straight Hail Mary win came up short. I should have followed Poobert's lead - maybe then I wouldn't have been dragging ass all day Sunday.

Neither Poobert nor I did well with our picks last week. I did manage to beat him again - getting 18/32 correct versus his 16/32. It wasn't our best showing, but we didn't care. As fans of the kind of random craziness that only college football generates, Saturday was a fun night to be a fan. Who cares if our picks suffered for it.

Neither of our places in the overall standings changed much last week. In updating the standings in another thread, @MD Buckeye conveniently (and perhaps passively-aggressively) posted the standings as separate screenshots - one with those who are beating Poobert and another with those who are not. Here are the folks that are losing to him:

These are the folks that are losing to a cat.
Shout out to @LostLassie, who finally pulled ahead. For the rest of you, Poobert says he understands what its like to not be very good at something. He wishes he could cuddle with all of you and make you feel better.

Chin up, losers. Poobert hopes you feel better soon.

This Week's Picks:

Gamejlb1705PoobertComments
Boise State (-2.5) at Virginia

J: Boise State has not impressed me. I don't like their chances on the east coast. P: That blue horsey looks mean. I wouldn't mess with it.
Georgia Tech (-9.5) at Duke

J: They'll bounce back from a tough loss, will physically dominate this game. P: Georgia Tech will bury Duke like I bury a dook in my litter box.
Kansas (+12.5) at Rutgers

J: Rutgers needs a slumpbuster. Hey look, here comes Kansas! P: I only made a pick for this one because I was told if I didn't I wouldn't get dinner.
BYU (+5.5) at M*ch*g*n

J: BYU is too opportunistic. They'll take advantages of the mistakes M*ch*g*n still makes. P: I barfed up a hairball. Their coach is Jim Hairball. It's a sign.
Bowling Green (+2.5) at Purdue
BbjZJqW.png

J: Surprised there wasn't another digit at the front of this point spread. The Falcons demolished Maryland, and Purdue is quite possibly a worse team. P: The 'P' is for Poobert University.
TCU (-8.5) at Texas Tech

J: TCU hasn't been as good last year, but I just have this gut feeling that they're about to break through. P: Texas Tech used to lock its players in a closet when they were being bad. My momma does the same thing to me. I don't like it. Go purple frogs!
Texas A&M (-7.0) at Arkansas
WogifAd.png

J: This one's gonna be ugly, and I'm not talking about the shots of the Razorbacks' coach on the sideline. P: Even cats know that Bielema is out of his depth. Also, he's a douchebag.
UCLA (-3.5) at Arizona

J: UCLA seems overrated to me, I think reality catches up to them this week. P:Wild cats? Are those the ones I see out the window that poop in the neighbor's yard? If so, I'm in favor.
Utah (+12.0) at Oregon
FUJP6U1.png

J: I'm picking entirely based on reputation in this one. P: Oregon is soft like my fat tummy.
Western M*ch*g*n (+31.0) at Ohio State

J: The Buckeyes will still show they have issues, but they'll have enough of them under control that they will show improvement and win comfortably. P: Go Bucks!

Poobutt, get ready to hand over the whole bag of Kibbles.
1. Puss 'n' Boots was a Cavilier, so I'm going with UVA.
2. The Duke of Earl was a cross dresser, so I'm going with the Engineers and Lady Ga Ga Tech.
3. OMG, who scheduled this, Charlie Weiss? Well, OK, take one for the conference - Scarlet Knights - mutter, mutter.
4. Can the Later day Saints come through after the disappointment - and in Ann Arbor? At least BYU has a QB who can heave a Hail Mary. BYU.
5. Any Big Ten team that schedules a MAC team at their (the MAC team's) place deserves no respect from me, and though this one is in LaFayette I'm going with BG.
6. Can they post bail in time to get their team out of the pokey? TCU in a race to the bondsman's office.
7. Poor Bret. Dreams of cheeseheads dance through his head. Bring your jizz jar cause the twelfth man been waitin' for you. Aggy.
8. Wildcats don't wilt in the Arizona heat.
9. Oregon at least looked like a real team in the one game I saw. Can't say that about these two utes.
10. My owner intends to be in the 'shoe and as much as I perceive him to be a self-centered douche, he does bring home the Kibbles. Buckeyes

Thanks for noticing. Last week was a good week for me--also won our community football pool for the Buckeyes. Don't really even have time to think about picks this week, so we'll see how long the improvement lasts.

It's all worth it, though, for the virtual kiss from Poobert. Give him some tuna treats for me.

Awesome. He doesn't like tuna though. He loves him some nachos though.

True Southern gentleman that he is, Omniscient Oscar concedes this weeks loss to Poobert: "Ok, you pulled a dingleberry out of your tail feathers with Utah. You get the Kibbles this week, but I'm still up one. Oh, yeah... and fuck you"
