DB Cameron Burrows (Official Thread)

"I grew up an Ohio State fan," Burrows says. "When I went to their camp freshman year, they were showing me a lot of love. I got to meet [former] coach [Jim] Tressel my freshman year.

"I remember at the Nike camp they had at Ohio State one of the coaches came to locker room and said he thinks someone wants to talk to me. I called my [high school] coach and told him and he came in there with me and they sat me down for a little while. That's when they took me to Coach Tressel's office. And he said 'The coaching staff told me I can't let you walk off this campus without getting an offer.'"

Burrows attended the Miami and Michigan games at Ohio Stadium last year and was on hand for the season opener against Akron on Sept. 3.

Trotwood survives, advances to state title game

E.L. Hubbard - Trotwood-Madison safety Bam Bradley runs back an interception for a touchdown as teammate Cameron Burrows blocks against Marion-Franklin in the first half of their Division II semifinal game at Northmont High School's Good Samaritan Stadium Friday, Nov. 25, 2011.

CLAYTON - In a game full of long scoring plays, plenty of turnovers and a massive switch of momentum, it was fitting that it would come down to a botched trick play.

Cameron Burrows raced 80 yards with an interception late in the fourth quarter for what proved to be the winning points as Trotwood-Madison initially overwhelmed, and then hung on to edge Columbus Marion-Franklin 47-44 in a Division II state semifinal Friday night at Northmont?s Good Samaritan Stadium before about 6,500 spectators.

Continued...

Faced with a fourth-and-21 on the Trotwood 25, elusive Marion quarterback Corry Benson handed off and then dashed around the corner, expecting a return pass from Joe Alverson. Burrows had another intention and 80 yards later struck a Desmond Howard Heisman Trophy pose to celebrate in the end zone.

"That was a huge play by Cameron," Rams coach Maurice Douglass said. "It gave us an opportunity to go up by nine points. I liked him making the play, minus the Heisman pose."

Trotwood has an INSANE amount of talent on that defense. I've watched the Rams three times this year and Burrows, McCray, Bam, and Reon Dawson all look like stars in the making. Burrows is a must get for 2013. McCray's future may be a LB, but I really do like his skill set at TE too. There is also no one in the Dayton area that can hit like Bam.

Rams on radar

Bradley isn?t the only Ram coveted by the Buckeyes. Junior cornerback Cameron Burrows will be Scout.com?s No. 1 player in Ohio when its rankings are released this spring.

A unique combination of size (6 feet 2 inches) and sprinter?s speed, he fits the growing trend for big corners who can stay with tall, physical wide receivers.

?(Burrows) is an extraordinary talent and one of those rare once-in-a-decade type cornerbacks that we?ll get in the Midwest where they?re just big, long, fast and fluid and have the hips and the speed to stay at that cornerback position at 6-2,? Helmholdt said. ?That?s rare.?

Douglass said Burrows received an offer from Tressel last spring. Current OSU coach Luke Fickell hit up Bradley last summer.
