Free Rivals - Mind of Mike: Breaking a commitment?

Vonn Bell is the toughest one to figure. I said it would be Alabama then but now it appears to be a battle between Ohio State and Tennessee. There is a lot of smoke about a silent Tennessee commitment and I know Bell's parents loved Knoxville, but a reliable source told me that the Buckeyes still have the edge despite the excellent visit to the Vols. I'm going to say Ohio State, but not with a ton of confidence.

Our staff has really put in the work with Bell. They've been intense but consistent for like 9 months at least. Will his relationship with our coaching staff be enough to trump the "home" team in UT? I think so. I really do.

Sending Withers in there Thursday might just be the icing on the cake. He's been the point man, along with Coach Meyer, from the get go. Bell has repeatedly said how much he values relationships and I'm just not sure UT can make that up in a month or less.

This kid was born to be a star. He has the talent on the field and charisma off it. He will be big time.

Also, is it just me but around the 50 sec. mark he sure smiles big before answering his question about Urban. Man, I want this guy. I have always felt like the combo of Withers and Meyer would be a lethal combo to land him. Still feel that way.

After watching the video, if Alabama is really out, I think we have a real shot! Vonn mentioned playing in BCS games, and playing for National Titles. Sounds like more of a plan at Ohio State rather than Tennessee.

Well aware of that. But do you think if Urban made a good impression on him in April it would have deminished since then? You do know he was in the locker room with him after his defeat in the state championship game in December right? Bubble not burst.

Glad to see Withers name keep popping up...southern ties are really helping us with recruiting. Basically everyone loves/respects UFM, so getting a good rapport with assistants is crucial. We'll see if Withers can come in in the final hour and close an elite prospect. As for Bell, he has done a great job of keeping everyone in the dark as of late...the Bama lean talk has died down a lot and early PT keeps getting emphasized. Relationships are important but it seems that is there with everyone, a little less with the UT coaching change (likely offset by UT being his childhood favorite). It seems both OSU and UT offer early PT and in terms of academics (the other factor listed), probably comparable and I want to say OSU but perhaps I'm just a biased OSU alum. Can't imagine better job networking/career services anywhere else though.

This will be an interesting storyline to see unfold on NLOID but regardless of his choice, the staff has done everything in their power and played their cards right to land Vonn. This class is very, very good right now. Landing Bell makes it elite.

I am aware. I thought it was strictly based off of that video...I don't want to be a bubble burst-er :(

You weren't being a bubble buster. The only thing that has changed since April, is Vonn may no longer be the strong Alabama lean. If he really is no longer interested in Alabama, and he still dreams of playing in BSC games during his college career, Ohio State is the place. BCS games are not a happening thing at Tennesse in the forseeable future, 7-5 and going to any bowl, would be a good year for them at this point.
