DE Noah Spence (Official Thread)

Regarding your first paragraph, the reason why it's been so controversial is because of the asinine category that they have ecstasy under. He didn't get permanently banned because he took a drug, he got banned because he took a "performance enhancing drug." As in, him rolling hard gave him an advantage on the football field. Now I get that after his first offense it is 100% on him, and he either knew or at least should have known a second offense would be a complete ban. But that doesn't change the fact that the category it is under is completely stupid. I'd like to hear the B1G's reasoning for why ecstasy is a PED. As if the sudden urge to dance and grind on people results in stronger tackling techniques?

I think he would have gotten some leniancy for that reason if he hadnt misled the conference the first time around. They probably felt like there was some deception going on in the appeals process for the first suspension.

Agreed. And not trying to nitpick, but if he dominates, then I see no reason he couldn't be back on the 1st round hype train.
Agreed, but it would have to be an absurd domination. He'll be in D-1AA. That, and there will always be concerns about the drugs. Whether he's over it or not, it's something that will be considered. I think his max is 2nd round, but if he just crushes it he could go 1st I suppose.

You might be right, but to me, I'd be more concerned (as an NFL exec) if his drug of choice was pot.

If he's clean for a year, there's that.
Whether he comes out now or next year, I think his draft stock will largely be determined by the Combine.
If he doesn't feel like he's in football shape now (and it's gotta be hard to stay in that peak condition when you haven't played for so long), waiting another year is definitely in his best interests.
