DE Tyquan Lewis (Indianapolis Colts)

My only point was that I like it when they are excited and commit earlier because they know where they want to go and are completely on board. Rather than courting several schools way past signing day (making it a game or a show).

Sorry, makes sense in my head, maybe used the wrong words.

Back to Tyquan.

"Signing Day" is the first day players can sign not the only day. If a player choices to not sign that first day it's their choice. Fans are the ones that make it a big show because they expect players to sign on the day they want them to sign.

Welcome to the Buckeye family Tyquan.

Welcome to the Buckeye Family, Tyquan!!

It seems a little TSUN/Ped State-ish to claim that "so-and-so wasn't as good as this guy is anyways", but in all seriousness, on film, Tyquan fits this D much better than Neal was going to and Tyquan's the better athlete. Great measurables and I'm sure he learned a lot at "The Opening". Upgrade.

What a great pic. I have to guess this has to rank as one of the best days of his life... Hope he's prepared for many many more in the S&G.

Congrats young man! Welcome to the family!

AGREED, I just feel the pride/love and weight lifted off of momma bear's shoulders knowing her son will receive a free education. I can relate knowing that in about one year I will be getting my honorable discharge and returning to school on the GI Bill. Its such a great feeling knowing everything will be alright. I love this kid already.

Tarboro Vikings defensive end Tyquan Lewis receives the WRAL Extra Effort Award Wednesday from sports anchor Tom Suiter in front of his Viking teammates.

TARBORO ? Tarboro Vikings five star defensive end and Ohio State commit Tyquan Lewis was presented with the WRAL Extra Effort Award Wednesday. The presentation was a surprise to Lewis, because the coaching staff and his mother, Tyronda Whitaker, knew about the award but didn't let Lewis in on the news until he was called to Vikings head coach Jeff Craddock's office and was introduced to Tom Suiter, WRAL sports anchor. The show will air Thursday at 6 p.m.

"It means a lot to me to receive this award," Lewis said. "It shows how much things are paying off for me and how people acknowledge me for my hard work as a football player and a student."

The news put a big smile on Lewis' face when he was told about being the recipient of the award. Suiter had Lewis filmed in several segments and finally presented Lewis with the award on the Vikings football practice field in front of the entire team.

"I didn't know what to expect when I walked in coach's office and saw him (Suiter) here," Lewis said. "It hit me when I thought about him passing out the extra effort award."

Lewis was presented the award for all of his hard work on and off the field. Lewis has a 3.8 GPA in the classroom and will graduate after the first semester.

Lewis has set the bar high for himself once he arrives at Ohio State. He will enroll in the university during the second semester, because he will be done with high school in December. He wants to graduate from college in a little over three years.
