LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- On Sunday the Under Armour All-American combine for juniors and sophomores attracted a good group of prospects from Big Ten country.

The group was led by a talented contingent of Ohio underclassmen including two of the top 10 junior prospects in the Buckeye State, defensive ends Adolphus Washington (Cincinnati, Ohio/Taft) and LaTroy Lewis (Akron, Ohio/Hoban).

The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Washington has a long list of early scholarship offers including Ohio State, Michigan State, Alabama, Florida State, West Virginia, Texas A&M, Texas, Illinois, Cincinnati, Purdue and Kentucky. Washington's early leader is Ohio State.

Everyone says they wanna get away while they are in highschool...right up to the point of actually leaving.

1-3 hours away for college is perfect in my opinion. Far enough away that you are totally on your own if you want to be, but still close enough to drive home on a random weekend with your laundry and for the holidays.

UC and Notre Dame coaches have been at Taft this week, says Taft football coach Mike Martin. Taft junior DE Adolphus Washington and Taft junior WR Dwayne Stanford are among the state's to players in the 2011 class.

Washington "has a great chance" to be invited to the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl, Martin said.

Top Ohio DE prospect has interest in FSU

Cincinnati (OH) Taft High School junior defensive end Adolphus Washington is one of the top defensive ends in the country for 2012. His offer list is up to 18 schools including Ohio State, Florida State, Michigan State, South Florida and Cincinnati to name a few.

Washington is a 6-foot-4, 240-pound athlete who not only excels at football, but basketball as well. He's a nationally ranked power forward.

Florida State started recruiting Washington around the same time (mid-October) they began recruiting a former Taft High School standout, who Washington is familiar with, Tank Carradine. Carradine is now committed to FSU and set to enroll in the coming days.

"I know (defensive line) coach DJ Eliot has talked to my coach and I've got a bunch of mail," said Washington. "I'm really looking into Florida State. I've heard some great things about the school and the coaches."

"I know Tank (Carradine) committed to FSU. If he's going there, then I know I'll like it!"

Adolphus Washington will play basketball in the spring and then set aside time in the summer to travel around the country attending college team camps.

"My coach and I are going to plan it all out, I'm not sure where I'll go. I want to get to Alabama and Florida State for sure."

Washington isn't ready to name a favorite, but he does have a group of schools that are beginning to stand out.

"I like Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Notre Dame, Kentucky and Michigan State."
