DT Donovan Munger (Official Thread)

Missing in action

Donovan Munger wasn't on the field Sunday morning, and he might not be for a few more weeks as he apparently deals with an academic issue before he can report to the team. The Buckeyes still expect the 6-foot-3, 290-pound defensive lineman to be part of the squad this season and he was listed on the latest roster, but he'll likely have some ground to make up and will be missing valuable reps that could have potentially helped him push for a spot in the rotation.

Ohio State defensive lineman Donovan Munger of Shaker Heights to miss season because of blood clot

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State freshman Donovan Munger, from Shaker Heights, will miss the season because of an issue with a blood clot, Urban Meyer said today. A source said the blood clot was in Munger's lung and required hospitalization.

A 6-foot-4, 290-pounder, Munger had not been practicing with the Buckeyes since the start of preseason camp because he hadn't been given the OK by the NCAA Clearinghouse. He's not the first player in recent years to have the start of his career held up while the NCAA went over his transcript.

Meyer said today that Munger has been approved and would be at Ohio State this week, but now he won't be playing.

A four-star recruit, Munger played both ways at Shaker Heights but was listed as a defensive lineman with the Buckeyes.
