DT Donovan Munger (Official Thread)

Agreed. Is our staff definitely recruiting him for DT, or is there a chance he's being recruited for OL?

If anything, he projects as an interior lineman on offense which we don't need. I think his footwork could use some improvement even for the interior.

Defensive linemen all the way in my opinion.

Fair enough. I was just curious. I'm glad Donovan was able to earn that :osu: offer.

Ohio State makes offers to Shaker Heights lineman Donovan Munger
Published: Sunday, March 25, 2012,
By Brian Lavrich, Sun News

Shaker Heights football coach Jarvis Gibson said Ohio State has made an offer to two-way lineman Donovan Munger.

Gibson said the Buckeyes are interested in the 6-foot-4, 280 pound junior as a defensive tackle. He also starts at offensive tackle for the Raiders.

Munger visited Ohio State for the Buckeyes? junior day.

Gibson said Munger is ?very interested? in Ohio State, but he?s also keeping his options ?wide open right now.?

Overall, Munger has received more than 15 offers from teams including Indiana, Minnesota, Syracuse, Auburn, Georgia, Duke and Louisville among others. Half the teams are interested in Munger as a defensive tackle and the other half a guard.

?I love him on either side of the ball,? Gibson said. ?He?s a force.

?He?s big, powerful, strong and has quick feet. He?s very quick for his size. That?s what people love about him.?

There is some speculation he could play OL for us. From the clip below, he looks pretty darn good to my untrained eye. Plenty aggressive and lots of blocking downfield (i.e. doesn't stop till the whistle blows).

Munger plans to have top five soon

By Jared Shanker | ESPN.com

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio ? As the offers continue to pile up for four-star defensive tackle Donovan Munger (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights), he is reluctant to start cutting teams from his list. The plan is to have a top five in the coming months, though.

Munger has already made a handful of visits, but he will take his recruitment into his senior season so he can take official visits.

?I want to take [official visits] as soon as possible [to] my top five,? Munger said, ?so that?s why I want to narrow them down in the summer so I know where I want to go.?
