DT Tommy Schutt (Official Thread)

2015 DL discussion bump

This is one nostalgic thread if you go back to page 1.

Tressel was still the coach, GatorUbet was in it and the infamous Sekrah Sports twitter account is referenced.
Yep. Had offers from Notre Dame, Michigan, Alabama, Michigan State, and Nebraska, so he had a pretty impressive list...

TOMMY SCHUTT HITS THE DODGEBALL COURT WITH A GOPRO, HILARITY ENSUES

upload_2015-5-28_14-14-56.jpeg

Football is great, but there might not be a better sport than dodgeball.

The classic schoolyard game mirrors life: The strong thrive while the meek get their blocks blown off by an 85-mph heater thrown by a 20-year-old high school senior with a teardrop tattoo.

We know Urban Meyer loves competition, so it's no surprise to see the Champions Club blowing off steam with a rousing rendition of the game during the club's annual celebrations.

Senior defensive tackle Tommy Schutt donned a GoPro to capture some of the mayhem.

This. And I think Munger is the primary candidate to rotate in at the 1. Hale and Hill could play either in my books.

They played Munger exclusively at the 3 last year and will likely use him there again this year.

I think Hale is the backup at NG and will play a lot more than people expect (assuming he's healthy). Hill has been a major disappointment and really needs to pick up his play or fade into oblivion.

Well we don't have a true NG position but Hale is likely the 1 tech backup (or starter if Schutt does not improve). And I think that is tad unfair on Hill...he has been injured most of his time here and really flashed when healthy his freshman year. If he is healthy this year and does not produce, then it becomes a different story.

IN PLACE OF THE DEPARTED MICHAEL BENNETT, TOMMY SCHUTT HAS HAD 'A REALLY GOOD CAMP,' ACCORDING TO OHIO STATE HEAD COACH URBAN MEYER

Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer and his staff have been waiting for Tommy Schutt to live up to expectations. They've been waiting for quite some time, actually.

"The clock has been ticking," Meyer says.

And now, as Schutt just wrapped up his fourth and final training camp at defensive tackle for the Buckeyes, it appears he's finally ready to make a solid contribution. Ohio State is going to need Schutt to do that, too, as it must replace the departed Michael Bennett on the defensive line.

"Schutt's had a good camp," Meyer said. "He's really handled himself the right way and he's had a really good camp."
