COLUMBUS, Ohio - Zach Boren is a team captain, a leader, and to say he offers a unique perspective on the Ohio State - Michigan rivalry is a bit of an understatement.

Ohio State - Michigan week is certainly no time for understatement, so let's start again from the top.

Zach Boren is the Buckeyes' jack of all trades, battering ram extraordinaire and the master of the switcheroo ? both by position and by allegiance.

"It's one of the great stories, in my mind, in college football and certainly in Ohio State history," Ohio State coach Ubran Meyer said Monday.

There's really no better time to tell it.

Boren grew up in the Columbus suburb of Pickerington, but in a way he grew up in enemy territory. His father is a former Michigan linebacker and his mom a former Wolverines track athlete, so, naturally, maize and blue were always Boren's colors. But his oldest brother, Justin transferred from Michigan to Ohio State in 2008 after one season with the Wolverines, and Zach and the youngest brother, freshman offensive lineman Jacoby, now play at Ohio State.

It's a shame he wasn't born about 15 years earlier when the fullback had a bigger role in the NFL. He's turned out to be one of my favorite stories in tOSU history. Once a diehard scUMer, to being completely discounted as a token offer to get his older brother, to tough as nails two-way player. Helluva career, Zach. :osu:

To everyone who said that Zach was recruited simply because of his brother, how you have eaten your words.

Zach, from every Buckeye fan, well done! Heart is something that cannot be taught. Your leadership helped change that defense. Well done!
