WR Torrance Gibson (Green Bay Blizzard)

How does Gibson remind you at all of "this recruit" you speak of? IF we are talking about the same person, which I think we are, they are no where near the same...Gibson is doing the same thing hundreds of recruits do each year...I do not hear anyone complaining when Meyer gets a recruit to flip to us, do you? Gibson is making the best decision for him and with the number of QB's we have on this team can you actually blame him? I just do not see how it is fair to already compare this kid to a previous recruit we had when they are not even close to being the same person

Very true, I guess kids like Dontre Wilson, Gareon Conley, Tommy Schutt, etc should be complained about as well since they were also committed elsewhere. But it is what it is. As of January 19, Gibson is still an OSU commit, decommit talk is a moot point unless it actually happens. Visit all you want, have fun with the "hostesses", eat all the lobster and skrimp you can for free and enjoy the visits. And then enjoy it even more signing with the defending national champions the first week in February and continuing our CFB dominance

I don't understand how we can question recruits for not sticking to the strict definition of "commit" when it is adult coaches who know they are committed that are calling them and begging them to take a visit. And further, the coach to whom you committed is making the same sort of calls to committed kids.

I do get carried away with recruiting sometimes, but the last time I get as excited as some folks seem to get over the decision a 17 year old is giong to make it was a "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" kind of decision - and it wasn't a dude.

As for all three leaving, whoever the starter is I think we are certain to see a lot of the backup. If Braxton is #1 or #2 that is a problem for #3. But don't forget how both JT and Cardale got their shots. And IMO what kept Cardale from jumping is emotional maturity more than being physically ready. He will be 23 with four years under his belt. While a long shot, the possibility of all three going is real.

Scratching my head on that too. Of course Brax is a given.
If Cardale or JT win the job, that guy could potentially enter the NFL early. But I can't see how both would be gone ?

Anyway, hope Gibson sticks but if not somebody else will come in. Auburn is a system he'd fit perfectly and I'm sure they'd give him more than a fair shot at QB... but it's not a path to the NFL. If his goal is to play QB as long as possible and get a degree, I can certainly see the draw there.
JT on the field, Cardale on measurables.

If JT declared for the NFL after starting all year, no way Cardale declares early with the field cleared for him to have a fully year to himself.
I'd say the same thing in reverse.
Burrow and Gibson both are looking at 2 years to compete for the #1 spot... but given the injuries sustained to the starters, I think there will also be plenty of opportunity for the backup(s) to get meaningful play time.

Why would anyone who follows recruiting be the least bit surprised here? Frankly, I'm surprised TG stayed drama-free for this long.
Exactly. The whole world is after this kid and he's going to shine at the next level. He's been nothing but straightforward and respectful about Ohio State the entire time. If something happens and his heart takes him elsewhere, you just have to wish him well and we move on. Personally, I don't see it happening. Urban Meyer is just getting started and is 50/50 with Saban as the best coach in the country. Relax.

Ohio State's QBs are so good they're scaring recruits away

Four-star quarterback/athlete Torrance Gibson is committed to Ohio State, but over the weekend he said things have changed for him. Gibson spent the weekend at Auburn and spoke with coach Gus Malzahn and OC/QB coach Rhett Lashlee about a possible future with the Tigers.

"I sat in Coach Malzahn's office and he told me that I'm their guy," Gibson told Rivals. "He said he wants me to come in and I would get a fair opportunity to play quarterback, and I believe him."

When asked about his commitment to Ohio State, Gibson acknowledged he’s still committed “but I’m considering Auburn a lot. I don’t have a problem redshirting, but sitting two or three years, that’s not what I want to do.” Next weekend, Gibson is scheduled to visit LSU, another powerhouse program whose QB situation is in flux.

It’s clear that how loaded Ohio State is at QB for the next few years is swaying Gibson’s mind just as much as the natural appeal of those other programs. Last week, I included J.T. Barrett’s 2014 highlights just in case we forgot how good he is in the wake of Cardale Mania, and they’re worth showing again (note: few curse words in music). Barrett is an incredible talent, and he could be running Columbus for a while, which means Meyer might go a couple recruiting classes light on QBs.

Don't forget, JT will be eligible for the draft after next season. So if Gibson redshirts his first year, he would be competing for the starting job as a Freshman. No reason for him to be considering any other colleges.

Wherever Gibson goes, he will redshirt as a QB. If he does play, it will be in a wildcat scenario and our depth chart would not change him playing that role in any way if he is a playmaker. But given he is not going to start at QB anywhere, I would think having those guys here is a big bonus to learn under before he is ready. Then by his 2nd year, at most there will be Cardale and JT but in all reality, I would be expecting Jones to go pro after next year unless he absolutely tanks. At that point, JT is in his 4th year here. I would understand trepidation if all 3 of these guys were going to be around for 2-4 more years or if TG was advanced enough as a QB to compete for a starting job somewhere right away, but neither is the case here. If his talent translates to the next level (and I think it will in some form), he will be on the field here sooner rather than later.

After seeing with his own eyes a season in which OSU needed 3 QB's and the importance of #3 being a stud I'm not sure why he would be bothered by having a fair shot to compete for the #2 spot behind JT Barrett in his second year IF Barrett were to stay.

If I were this kids parent I'd be focused on Collier and any other QB recruited this year. If that depth scares you off then you are completely justified in looking around because OSU isn't the right place for you.

That said, I bet this kid is a competitor who is confident in his abilities and will to work so that it really doesn't matter who else is there. He controls his own destiny.

I will not be upset if he doesn't end up coming here. He would red shirt and probably not see the field for 3 years. Unless he switches to a Jalin Marshall type player which looking at his highlight video he has the skill set to develop into that. Also considering we are Ohio State and will probably be in the running for at the very least a Big ten championship every year we will not have trouble recruiting quarterbacks.

How good are you?
Pretty sure you dictate this one...

Zeke came with Hyde, Smith, Ball & Dunn ahead of him.. pretty formidable 4-some
Zeke probably shouldn't have come... he'll never get to play

He knows he will redshirt most any school he attends. He just wants to see the field in year 2 I assume. Seems to me that if year 2 he is a wildcat type player then there really isn't an issue. As others have said, his focus should be Burrows and Collier at this point. He will see the field in his second year, that's almost guaranteed. He's too talented not to. How he is used in year 2 and what he does with that opportunity is entirely up to his performance.
