Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 3/14 - Brian Cole visiting this month

Torrance Gibson might visit soon

A couple of weeks ago, Fort Lauderdale (FL) American Heritage quarterback/athlete Torrance Gibson (who is one of Ohio State's top targets for the class) thought the earliest he would be able to make it to Columbus for a visit was the summer. But things may have changed.

Yesterday, the Heritage QB indicated that he could make his first trip to check out the Ohio State campus later this month over his spring break, but wasn't completely sure of any visit plans. He'll definitely make it on campus no later than the summer, but it would be huge to get him on campus as soon as possible.

I still like where the Buckeyes stand in this race, but there's still a long way to go before he commits. Right now, he's planning on announcing his college decision following his senior football season.

Ran a 21.7 200 meter dash yesterday. Ohio State, Miami & Tennessee stick out. Plans on visiting LSU, Oklahoma & Ohio State over his Spring Break.

Yeah if we can get torrence.... just imagine a backfield with him, samuel, marshall, clarke, and dontre. Not to mention having zeke and others at tailback... It'd be safe to say we will be good to go with speed on our team

I must say I never saw his highlight film until tonight but wow. He is TAILOR MADE for our offense and like it was said is a different kind of athlete at qb. I can't quite get a comparison but he seems much faster than Pryor and tougher too. Maybe a blend of Cam Newton and Sammy Watkins is the two that come to mind.

Either way this kid would be perfect in our offense. Like it was stated his ability on the read option is impressive and while Braxton is plenty fast himself I'm not so sure that torrence just may have him on speed. At worse in college he will be the same level passer as Cam Newton. One other thing is he really seemed to be a great leader too as he was always celebrating with his teammates after they made big plays and seemed more fired up after scoring than Braxton would get. Kind of like Jamies Winston.

Well anyways I hope we land him. He's a huge talent and considering urban never got to utilize Cam Newton at UF it's about time we see what could've been.

GIBSON PREPARES FOR RECRUITING SWING

Over the weekend, Torrance Gibson (and a host of other Buckeye targets) earned an invitation toThe Opening after dominating performances at the Miami Nike Football Training Camp. Gibson also had folks talking when he announced on Twitter that he was planning on visiting Ohio State over his upcoming spring break. That news was short-lived however, when he released an amended list on Twitter last night.

There is a HUGE difference between a 200m run time on a track and a 40 on the field... 200M tells how fast someone really is but you can rarely hit that kind of top gear on the field: Ted Ginn was special. We've yet seen someone that could hit that top gear here.
