WR Trevon Grimes (transfer to Florida Gators)

Notebook: Stars gather at SoFla HS Media Day
Class of 2017 five-star Trevon Grimes doesn't come right out and dispute the widespread notion that Ohio State is the solid leader in his recruitment. The standout wide receiver laughs it off and insists that other schools are in play. According to Grimes, Miami and Florida State are also real threats to land his verbal commitment. Grimes plans to visit Ohio State this fall and may tour a few other schools as well.

GRIMES WILL BE IN COLUMBUS FOR PENN STATE

For the last few months, the question about Ohio State and 2017 Fort Lauderdale wide receiver Trevon Grimes has been more "when will he" than "will he?"

When will he visit again? When will he commit to the Buckeyes? In July, many thought that the answer to both of those questions would be Friday Night Lights, but Grimes – the country's top-ranked 2017 wide receiver – didn't make the trip. Since then, Ohio State tried a number of times to get the 6-foot-3, 180-pounder, whose family relocated to Florida from Indianapolis, back to the Midwest. It appears that's finally in the works...again. When Nick Bosa and Sam Bruce are making their official visits to Ohio State on Oct. 17, Grimes is expected to be traveling with them.

"As far as I know, Trevon is going," a source at St. Thomas Aquinas shared with 11W. "I talked yesterday with all of them about the trip. Trevon is looking into flights to match up with Nick and Sam."

According to a couple of people close to Grimes, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if that weekend ended with a bang: Grimes committing to the Buckeyes.

Match up nightmare all day! Can get jump balls and can make plays after the catch. He'll need to put on some weight for college but He'd look great in this offense and fit in just like Mike Thomas does now

Despite Ohio State being Grimes childhood favorite team, the receiver says he won’t make any quick decisions on his future.

“Ohio State has been my leader since my freshman year but I definitely don’t want to commit too early,” Grimes said. “I want to give everyone a fair chance just like I gave Ohio State a fair chance. I’ve loved everything about Ohio State since I was little.”

Crazy thing about that is that not only does he have freakish athletic qualities, he also has incredible intangible football skills at the receiver position. Plus he works so hard and will do anything to be a team player. That is why I truly think he is one of the best receivers I have watched on film and the best WR in 2017.
