Florida LB Alex Anzalone (official thread)

visiting the Bucks last weekend of the month...

Anzalone high on Gators after visit
March, 17, 2012
By Derek Tyson

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- ESPNU 150 Watch List linebacker Alex Anzalone (Wyomissing, Pa./Wyoming Area) visited Florida with his dad this weekend. Anzalone arrived on Thursday and left Saturday after Florida completed its third practice of the spring.

"It went really well. It was awesome," Anzalone said. "We got to see all the facilities and the coaches. We went through schemes to see where I would play. Yeah, it was awesome. The practices were intense. Definitely a lot different than my high school. I know coach [Will] Muschamp was disappointed with the first practice I guess because of the tempo, but I thought it was pretty high-tempo for me."

The versatile Anzalone, plays offense and defense for his high school team and said the Florida coaches like him on both sides of the ball.

"When I walked in there they said I could play offense or defense," Anzalone said. "I know the offensive coaches really wanted me, but I decided to stick with outside linebacker."

Scout $ - Anzalone Recaps Two-Day Visit to Notre Dame

3/25

From IrishEyes...the visit moved ND up his list...several schools likes him at RB...next visit is OSU followed by UCLA, USC and Stanford.

Noticed from looking at UF's commit list that they already have 4 linebacker committs. At one time I figured that the gators were our primary competition. Perhaps now that is not the case, but at least with UF Alex wanting to play lb should be an advantage to us.

Anzalone rolling thru the visits
By Phil Kornblut

LB Alex Anzalone of Reading, PA visited Notre Dame last weekend. He also recently visited Florida and made a second trip to Penn State. He will visit Ohio State this Saturday and will visit Southern Cal, UCLA and Stanford the first weekend in April. He wants to visit USC but is not sure if he?ll get down this spring. His father, who is a doctor, has to work out his schedule. Anzalone said he remains in touch with USC recruiter GA Mangus, and Mangus remains interested in him. Anzalone does not have favorites and wants to take more visits. He will narrow his list after his visits next month and he wants to decide before his season. His 31 offers include USC, Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, Virginia, Michigan State, Penn State, Arkansas, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford and Southern Cal.

I haven't seen anything to make me believe they're in the top 2.

I'm told they've assured ND they're returning as a family for the spring game on 4/21 and that academics are the most important factor.

Like I said, not sure I'm ready to buy it just yet, as I've heard tOSU and UF mostly for him, but just letting you know what's out there.

In terms of pure academics for undergraduate institutions, Ohio State and Notre Dame are, in all actuality, about the same. When you also through in our alumni base and career development center, Ohio State has an edge (they will find you a good job if you put in the work). That being said, the Anzalone/ND talk would be a new development to me...I know the Florida people feel good about their chances and our side does too, but I hadn't heard much about ND.
