So the front end was one of the big projects this year. Yes, the search engine was a big deal, but the bigger project was fixing what was an utterly broken and poor representative front end in our WordPress attempt.

I continue to tweak it and try to round it out to a genuinely valuable starting point for the site. The video feed from USA Today has actually been much better than I expected when I plugged it in, I actually finding myself checking the front page every day to see what new video content is up.

I've also added Twitter feeds, both our tweets as well as our likes, and may add a third that covers current and former players and media personalities. There's a trivia game that includes and head-to-head component. We have our articles of course, featured in the slider at the top. There's promotion for content on some blogs near and dear to us. And of course we have the most recent posts from our core fora prominently displayed.

What else, if anything, would make it better and more worthwhile? For years I've wanted to go from "we have a front page?" to "the front page is my bookmark and launching point into the site."

Clarity, bravo! The front page is an interesting and much more vibrant shopfront for Buckeyeplanet. I particularly like the graphics and feeds. It is a very professional look and feel.

Well done!

I like the structure and functionality of the new home page. I hope that others will give some feedback, also considering content. One how of the things that has distinguished BP over the years are the insights of the people on this board that really understand football (and other college sports). I think that a "coach's clinic" kind of a page, explaining technical aspects of sports would be very welcome as an addition.

There are people who arrive here knowing very little about football, for instance, but loving it. Explaining different offenses and defenses, strategically and in practice, and overviews breaking down top team strategies, strengths and weaknesses would be very cool.

I hope a few of the very impressive people on the site will put up their hands and take up your offer to write. That would be pretty cool.

Thanks for all that you do, Clarity. This is such a great site.

I'd think about trying to increase the number of pics on the front page. People like shiny things and photos serve that role nicely.

Someone else also mentioned bringing back the countdown clock for The Game. I don't think two countdown clocks (the other being for the next game) are a problem as long as they are separated in some manner.

I'm obviously a fan of the countdown clock. I haven't had a chance to look at it on my computer screen yet. If I would make any suggestion based on using this android phone, maybe use the click to expand feature for some of the posts. It takes a lot of scrolling.

The new front page looks great Clarity. The only thing I miss is the list of recent threads/posts so I could join the discussion with one click; for example the current week's game thread or the QB discussion thread, etc. It seams I've become even more of a lurker than a contributor because it takes a bit more work (yeah, I'm a "lazy lurker") to find the current discussions.

I don't use twitter/facebook, etc so I don't know what I'd do with a "tweet" if I saw one, lol.

Otherwise, thanks for all your hard work at keeping this magnificent site up and running!

Yeah I meant to add that in my post. As awesome as it is, I'd imagine there are people that won't even scroll to the tweets. There's a LOT of info on there.

Well once you are scrolling and see the Shane LLL Morris ruptured his vagina , or the kyllle kalllis biggest disappointment of the species threads, I instantly have to make the jump from the front page. If I was on my com those are both opened in a new tab. Can't really do that on this phone without slowing it down.

@Clarity sorry I haven't had the chance to see it in all of its glory as of yet. I'm sure that on my com it's as good as a game winning TD against ttun.

Had it been kept up-to-date, I would have liked the previous one better. I'm at that age where I enjoy the more simple things in life. Even when I would read USAToday, it was only the sports, and then to keep up with my gambling. I also miss the weekly college/pro predictions that used to be here, and the games. Remembering that Yahoo was the ones who started the Tatgate that was the the demise of Coach Tress here, I am just unable to go to that site for anything.

That is just how I feel.
