He loves Football and has always played wherever his coaches ask him. You'd never hear this kid say give me the ball, or let me be the star. He's plenty happy to be the guy springing the RB with the big block. He's started so far in his 4 years at FB, OT, DT, and MLB.
He really has an impressive maturity and football knowledge about him that stands out whenever he plays or goes to camps. I agree if his size doesnt pan out he could be a fantastic MLB based on his reads, but he'll need to get fast to be a success there. Right now he's quick but he isn't fast.

That is cool that he is a good team player, Coach Tressel loves that in kids. He sounds like a kid on my team, not the fastest guy there is, but is quick, but he is a good MLB because of his quickness and strength. I know the saying goes that "you can't coach speed" but he will definitely get faster if he runs a lot and develops. Also, it is good to have great football knowledge and have the ability to make good reads, he would be a good MLB if he can do that. My coaches put me at MLB because they like my capability to read plays and they like my football knowledge, I am not the biggest linebacker, but I am 6'0 and 200 pounds, but my coaches think I will get to 220 by the start of the season. If Codi gets around 6'3 or 6'4 and 230-255 pounds, I think it sounds like he could be a great MLB because of his football IQ.

Behind every Heisman tailback there's a fullback who nobody knows of. That is except for that running back and the rabid fans like those here at tOSU!

A young mans dream of playing football changes with age but the memories are everlasting. Whether your son get too big to run with the ball or not, there is always room in Columbus for players who want to "hit" the other team. God bless.

Update on Codi

A quick update on Codi's progress. Unfortunately, he was unable to attend this years camp at tOSU (hoping for next year) but he did recently attend a full contact football camp at the University of Redlands in Southern Calif. There were 500 youth at the camp.

In the full contact drills he ran the ball about 20 times and averaged about 8 yds per carry.

On defense he was one of the campers who won the top defensive lineman award. Codi has pretty remarkable size and strength for a kid his age and does well at the DT position.

Wow this is awesome...It makes me wish my parents had gotten me started in football. I was 5'1" 120lbs through my sophomore year of High School. I would bug them and bug them to let me play but they would tell me I was too small and didn't want me to get hurt. But somehow they let me play lacrosse...lol. But anyways hearing and seeing that he has the talent and wants to do what the coach tells him is awesome. Keep up the good work Codi! Hopefully we see you in the scarlet and gray someday!!

Let's not get carried away, ScarletBlood31. I remember all of the kids who kicked my ass in middle school received a return favor in high school. A lot of things change during those years. I hope your kid/nephew does well scarletngray, but it's a loooooong way to the Shoe from Cali. Tell him to keep his pad level low! :)

BusNative - Check out my update on my nephew on his thread title "Future Buckeye?". How about my nephew, Codi, blocking for the other Cody? Now that's what I'm talking about!!

That's Awesome! My bad on the other Codi thread - I can't access the videos at work. And I was just kidding about bad uncle-ing. Let's get both Codi/y's on the phone (maybe add RhodeIslandBuck???) - they could lead the next Brew Crew.

Look for an update by my brother on my nephew, Codi McGuire, in the near future.....there has been a position change for this year... and he is the only 11 yr old on his team, playing with and against 12, 13 and 14 yr olds.

Well, just to give you an update on Codi,....
He tried out and made our Junior All American Footbal Jr. High school team (He's just 11 and in 5th grade...151 pounds now). The 13 and 14 year olds that are on his team are very fast, and the team is very talented. It was pretty obvious to me right off the bat that Codi would not be playing in the backfield on this team. They also run the spread offense, so that also doesnt use a Fullback in its scheme, so Codi tried out for OL and DL..

Codi beat out some 14 year olds and won the RT job. He's playing half the time at Nose right now. They just started playing scrimmages last weekend. His team scored 11 times to the opponents 3 times. I'll post some highlights when i get good film on his pancakes. This week he had 5 pancakes, but I had to film from field level so there was alot of obstruction. I'll post it when I get something worth seeing. I'm really hoping he can continue to dominate on contact as he has in the past, but he's now playing two levels above his age group and we're in untested waters.
