Alright...here is one from last weeks game vs Yucaipa. Keep in mind, he's only 11 and in 5th grade, and he's playing against kids that are 13 and 14 and in Jr high School (7th and 8th graders).
This was first play of the game for them on O after they recovered a fumble. He totally buries the guy he blocks on the TD run. Codi is the RT and is #44. It's a shame his coaches dont use any power scheme, they really have the personel for it and could pound the puke out of people if they were power based. Enjoy the pancake!

Hey, just a little update on my nephew Codi McGuire. Codi has grown a bit and this past year transitioned into an Offensive Lineman. Though he will play Fullback in certain situations. Anyway, he just recently attended the University of Redlands Football Camp. My brother will probably be posting more info in the near future, but here is a picture of Codi and his Dad at the camp. Codi won Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman Award.

That is a big boy...He looks so young. SnG you are talking him into coming to OSU right?

I believe he just turned 12 earlier this year. So yeah, if he continues to grow like he has been, he's going to be a big one.

Yeah, I recruit him as much as possible, without being obnoxious about it. We watched "The Rivalry" together when it was on HBO. I also got him a Buckeye shirt but it was too tight on him (medium adult) and so his older 17 year old brother ended up with it. Ha Ha.

2008 vids

OK Buckeye fans....

Here are this years vids. Keep in mind that:
Codi is now age 12 and in the 6th grade. He is 5'8 185 ....
He is playing against 8th and 9th graders ages 14 and 15. There are a few 13 year olds playing but Codi is the only 12 year old playing with this group and there are less than two or three 13 year olds on any team. The thing I am most impressed with this year is that Codi is making the OL calls on how to block the various fronts we see. You will actually see him redirect two of our 9th graders on the 5th play vs the green and white team and then make the OL call on how to block the play. He does a nice job on it as they brought the house and we still get a big gain. His OL coach is a HS OL vet of 20 years and he says Codi is making the right calls on the line of scrimmage on how to block various plays!

In the Video, he starts off wearing a white # 44 and plays OT. This was at the camp where he won the Top OL award. Then he wears #30 in navy on the 3rd and 4th plays at DT and RT. Then the last few he is at LG in white # 99 and then the last play at RG in #99 again. He actually plays strongside OG in our offense is why all the moving. If you lose him, look for the pancake and you'll find him easy. BTW - On the last pancake block from this weekends game, notice the size of the kid that he pancakes and how he does a one hand lift on him just before he pancakes him. Looks like he's been watching that movie "The Marine".... LOL

In this video, he wears jersey's 44, 30, and 99. His build makes it easy to find him.
Play 1 - RT #44
Play 2 - LT #44
Play 3 - DT #44
Play 4 - RT #30 (Navy Jersey)
Play 5 - LG #99
Play 6 - RG # 99

So far this year he is playing very well on the OL. I hope you all enjoy the newest clips.

I talked to Codi on the phone the other day and asked him if he would like to go to Ohio State and he said, "yeah, probably" with a shy chuckle.

At only 12 yrs. old, he still has a long way to go, but I'm glad he is playing against kids older than him, as it is just going to challenge him all the more.

Can't blame an Uncle who is a die hard Buck's fan to dream a little, can you?

Dennis,

What did you think about the newest video? Remember...he is only in 6th grade and he's doing this to 8th and 9th graders....

I like the one handed Body Slam against the Red and blue team at the end.

It's been awhile, so I thought I'd post the latest. Codi's team just won the Junior All American Football Championship (Super Bowl) for Southern California.

Here are a few of his blocks from the Super Bowl Game. Codi is now Age 13, and he is playing again 14 and 15 year olds. He is 5'10 and a half and about 210 pounds. He was the only 7th grader on our team that started. He's wearing a size 12 Shoe and is growing like crazy right now.

He plays Strongside OT and is #99. He's easy to track from the huddle as he's always the first kid to the line of scrimmage. He has some bigger blocks against lesser competition, and I'll post those as part of a highlight film soon. Here he is against the Corona Chargers in the Super Bowl. On the first play, its an unbalanced OL formation, and he and the OG double team the DT and back him up near 20 yards on a blast. On a few plays, the opponent tries to cut him, and he roots them well and plants them clearing the whole, a pretty difficult technique.

I saw Codi over Thanksgiving and he remains a humble kid with a good heart. My dream of him playing Fullback in the scarlet and grey quickly diminished last year as we all realized he was going to turn out to be a pretty big kid. But good OT come at a premium, so who knows?

He still likes the Bucks, but is also interested in Hawaii....

Every TD run in the So Cal Super Bowl was run to the strongside, right behind Codi. He does a good job competing with kids who are all older than him.

As I understand it, he was invited by Rivals to an invitation only camp in Texas next year where he will be evaluated, etc.

I did give him and his Dad "The Winners Manual" to read...

Codi is now in 8th grade (Age 14) He is up to a very solid 6'2 255 and still excelling on the OL... I'll be posting some highlights soon. His team is the defending Southern California Super Bowl Champion for 13-14 year olds, and is again currently undefeated (18 game winning streak so far).

If people scroll up a couple posts to the previous picture of Codi and his Dad, you can see that he has grown a couple inches and put on about 50 lbs...

When I was down in Southern CA a couple weeks ago, Codi asked me about where Ohio State was located, so he's still thinking about our beloved Bucks.

I'll be down in So CAL again in a few weeks to be able to watch one of Codi's games. Can't wait..

BTW - He'll be playing on my brother's Freshman team next year which is presently on a 26 game winning streak. They've gone undefeated two years in a row and are currently undefeated this year...

NOTE: About 3 years ago Codi was 5'4" 142 lbs. And so in 3 years he has grown 10 inches and gained about 100 lbs. And there is no end in sight, as he is only 14 yrs old. :)
