Clemson strengthening position with Glass

By Phil Kornblut
Junior DB Nick Glass of Atlanta is letting his commitment to Georgia stand for now. But the question is for how much longer? "I'm still committed but they've got five over safety commitments," Glass said. "I don't know what to do about that. It kind of worries me a little bit." Clemson, Alabama, Vanderbilt, UCLA, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Florida State have moved in strongly with Glass with Clemson in the strongest position to overtake Georgia. "Clemson is real low in safeties and they know they give up a lot of points," he said. "They have one of the best defensive coordinators in the country in Coach Venables. I know it won't be given to me but there's a chance for early playing time there." Glass said Clemson leads the schools lining up behind Georgia with Alabama, Ohio State, and UCLA the other top schools. He's also hearing from USC and Lorenzo Ward has been by his school a couple of times ("They are recruiting my close friend Shaq Wiggins pretty hard") but the Gamecocks are not in his top group. Glass said he is transferring to another school in the Atlanta area and will announce his new school this weekend. He's also thinking about graduating early. He will make a decision before his senior season. This season Glass has 85 tackles and 3 interceptions.
