Georgia Bulldogs (2021-2022 National Champions)

Just read some great threads from all over the Planet. Just imagine if Richt had kept Raekwon, Vonn Bell and Clemson's QB Watson in state?

I know you can't get them all, but if that happened in Ohio and...oh yeah-John Cooper.

Nkemdiche Bros. are also from Georgia. Carl Lawson and Montravious Adams (both at Auburn) were #2 & #3 in the state behind Robert Nkemdiche in 2013. Vonn Bell was #4.

The talent in the state in 2013 was ridiculous. Absolutely crazy. Georgia signed only 1 of the top 12 players that year.

Wow, that's Mack Brown level incompetence right there.

That's incorrect.

We signed 4.

Brice Ramsey - 2nd team QB
Trey Matthews - Kicked out of school for verbal conflict with professor (now at Auburn
Shaw Wiggins - transferred to Louisville
Brandon Kublanow - starting RG

BP on the whole is fairly complementary on the whole as to how CMR runs the program. Good man, good person, doesn't cheat, doesn't oversign, kids graduate and discipline is applied evenly.

Having said that, there will be classes (like 2013) where we get beaten out by programs that OS (Ole Miss, Bama) or programs with highly questionable reputations (AUBURN).

It isn't incompetence. You either lie in this shit with the pigs or you try to win the correct way.
I'm not happy with the results, but I'm proud of the way we conduct our business.

I was going by Rivals Top 80 from 2013, which had Matthews at #5, Kublanow at #13, and Ramsey & Wiggins outside the GA Top 20.

Again, by Rivals yearly GA ratings, Richt signed 5 of the top 7 in 2015, 3 of the top 6 in 2014, 3 of the top 5 in 2012, 4 of the top 5 in 2011. When looking at just the 5 star rated kids, Richt signed 5 of the 8 in the four years of 2011-12, 2014-15. He signed 0 of the 4 in 2013.

2013 is an aberration, it was just a helluva year to have one.

FTFY

And I'm sure I'm still missing a few...

Bryan McClendon will coach the Dawgs in their bowl game.

and

UGA owes Mark Richt a buyout of $4.1 million as a result of the verbal contract that AD Greg McGarity said that they would honor. The AJC points out that the fact that Richt will be the new head coach at Miami does not absolve UGA from paying the full amount of the buyout. DC Jeremy Pruitt and OC Brian Schottenheimer are each under contract for two more seasons and the buyout for each of them is their remaining salaries (Pruitt – $2.6 million, and Schottenheimer – $1.9 million). If either of them accepts another job before Kirby Smart takes over, UGA will not be on the hook for their buyouts. Note, however, that per the AJC both Pruitt and Schottenheimer’s contracts are subject to offset, meaning that should they accept other employment, that income would reduce what they are owed by Georgia.

and

Phil Savage noted on Sirius XM this morning that Kirby Smart will stay with the Crimson Tide through their bowl game / playoff.

WOW, UGA could be paying $8.8M to get rid of Richt and his assistants.

UGA QB Faton Bauta decides to transfer from Bulldogs

In a press release, UGA announced that Faton Bauta has decided to transfer out of the football program. The decision is effective immediately, and the quarterback will not be on the roster for the Bulldogs’ bowl game.

Because Bauta graduated this past join, he can join another FBS program and use his final season of eligibility in 2016 without having to sit out a year. If Bauta’s decision to transfer is based on finding an opportunity for playing time, he likely won’t follow Richt to The U as sophomore Brad Kaaya is firmly entrenched as the Hurricanes’ starter.

Bauta started one game during his four seasons in Athens, the Florida game this season in which he threw four interceptions in a loss. He was used primarily as the holder on field goal attempts this season, and rarely played prior to 2015.

Former Georgia bulldog mascot Uga IX passes away at age 11

Former Georgia mascot Uga IX, the white English bulldog known as Russ, has died only 1 month after giving up his title.

The Savannah, Georgia-based Seiler family, the long-time owners of the Georgia line of mascots, says Russ died in his sleep early Monday morning.

Russ, who was 11, retired before the Nov. 21 game against Georgia Southern when the collar was officially passed along to his successor, Uga X, who is known as Que. Que served as mascot in an unofficial capacity during the 2015 season before his title became official.
