The thread that started the whole thing is immediately below. With apologies to JustinAgs for using some of his real estate, we've also provided a summary article for those coming in late. While there are more than a couple laughs to be had right here in this thread and we HIGHLY recommend going through the whole thing no matter how long it may be by the time you read this, the following might be a good starting point: http://www.buckeyeplanet.com/forum/news/631251-giovanni-strassini-football-fantasy.html

I came across something peculiar recently. There's this Buckeyes fan club in Charlotte, that celebrates one former Buckeye All-American Tight End by the name of Giovanni Strassini. He "won the Rose Bowl in 1974 with Archie, Cornelius Green, Pete Johnson and the rest," says the page. He also "caught an 8 yard touchdown pass in the 1976 Rose Bowl", and "was drafted by the Cleveland Browns as the 162nd player picked in the 1977 NFL Draft," according to his Facebook page. Not only that, "Mr. Strassini is also a member of the OSU Football All-Century Team!" say the Charlotte Buckeyes.

Ever heard of this guy? Because I did not.

Very strange. If you Google the name everything you say is true but if you look in the archives of Ohio State football teams, I do not see his name referenced and he does not appear in the BP alumni thread (not saying that it is all inclusive). I watched that team pretty closely and that name does not ring a bell. Perhaps one of the football historians on this site will remember him because I certainly do not.

OSU lost the '76 Rose Bowl to UCLA, 23-10.

OSU's scoring was on a Klaban FG and Pete Johnson TD run.

It is strange. Depending upon your search engine the information he has in his message pops up. I do not know if the guy is putting misinformation out there or what… Very strange.
  7. I just checked the OSU football encyclopedia and he's not listed as a letter winner.

The guys also got an IMDB credit for playing himself in a TV movie entitled: 1976 Rose Bowl.

  8. More weird: One of the results on google is the list of 1976 All Americans, but his name is not on that page anywhere.

Another result is to a sporcle quiz about Ohio State All Americans since 1968. Somehow, 62.9% of people doing the quiz got Mr. Strassini, but only 39.4% got Troy, and he had the second highest percentage.

OP has a German IP address and is posting links to CharlotteBuckeyes.com, a website with which I have no familiarity, but it did scan clean with Sucuri, Norton, SiteAdvisor, and Google. The information itself is curious, and this whole thing raised some red flags for me, but I can't find any fire for the smell of smoke.

Not that you're doing anything wrong, JustinAgs.

    Basically, I are confused.

Yes, I'm logged in from Germany right now. Why does it matter in this context?

You think I'm trying some sort of scam, Clarity?
