WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion)

I think McShay meant as a runner and I can't fault him on that observation. EDIT: looking at it in context shows me he was only referring to him as a runner when he made that comment.

as a QB, you are correct of course. And even when he did get the hot receiver he threw the ball 89234092834098320943284 MPH over a 5 yard span.

God help the B1G once Braxton starts hitting all his reads...

Hard to pick out anything that I would like to see Braxton work on in the offseason, other than his reads, but I really would like to see him get some more size and strength to his legs. Those extra little hits to the knees an ankles are scary as hell. Any extra support he can pick up would be truly beneficial.

I really think 2013 is his "Troy Smith" year. When he stops running quite so much but his passing becomes fantastic. Troy had that transformation and won the Heisman. Its up to Braxton how far he really wants to go, imo.

I really don't think you can make the comparison with Troy smith.. Not because they aren't similar but their coaches have 2 totally different coaching styles.. Urb relies on a run 1st QB...

False.

Meyer relies on playmakers. In 2012 that was Braxton Miller with Carlos Hyde thrown in a little bit towards the end of the year.

Enjoy watching as the number of players that can be relied upon continues to go up at Ohio State.

DeShaun Watson is a pass-first QB by a wide margin and they are holding off a number of QBs itching to be Buckeyes (ie Drew Barker, an even less run oriented prospect) just to land him.

Alex Smith was the number 1 pick as a pass-first QB.

Chris Leak was extremely immobile and his backup was a fullback who set modern passing back a decade in his freshman season.

Now seriously, if BM works on his footwork (drop back) and gets his reads down by the time his back foot hits...it's really just a matter of accuracy and confidence. I personally don't think he is lacking in either of those. Making those reads and getting the footwork down this offseason is huge because when he makes the next step and becomes a lethal passer. It's over son.

Not only that, it'll really allow Braxton to shine, as Urban won't have to call a designed run for Braxton every 2nd or 3rd play. He can be utilized more as an option thread, but primarily that - an option, not the only option.
