Hawk and Mangold Apartment Robbed!!

Not having to pay for a college eductaion, thats close to a savings of $70,000 and they are also months away from a signing bonus. I think that explains alot.

Cash should be divided by 3 people and you have holidays coming up with XMas shopping $1,000 a piece. Thats not that much!

I would rather my child have CASH then a credit card otherwise they get into that credit card crap that so many kids are getting into!

Just some thoughts...

Maybe it's just me but if I have over $5,500 worth robbed from me, I'm calling the cops immediately.

Unless you don't know you've been robbed while you're away for a weekend, like say...Thanksgiving?

I'm still amazed they had that kind of cash laying around. Even with a 15% inflation of the amount, that's a bit more than the average amount for a beer run to have laying around.

I cannot believe that you guys are chastising these kids for what they have in their apartment. Take a step back from the ledge. How would you feel if you had your apartment robbed and then only have complete strangers criticize or question the legitimacy of your belongings instead wanting to find the true criminal. Give me a break, this is MC we're talking about. It is two of tOSU's finest.

I remember that all of the players were given PS2's and Xbox's for bowl games in the past.

Having $3000 cash laying around sounds stupid to most of us, but I'll ask. If they had received that money illegally do you think they would be stupid enough to report it as stolen? I guarantee they would write it off if they weren't able to explain where they got it from. Maybe they had just cashed their room and board stipend or something.

I don't think anyone is suggesting they got the money illegally (eh, anyone with a brain that is). However, it is pretty safe to wonder how anyone can be dumb enough to have that amount in cash sitting around an apartment on a college campus.

One of my friends probably has twice that amount in DVD's, and he is a server at Olive Garden.

How much would you estimate one of those giant coke bottle piggy banks hold, with a few dollar bills in it?
I had a coffee can half-full. and it had bout 100 bucks in it.
GET A GRIP PEOPLE.
It's not like they had a briefcase full of unmarked bills.

Did anyone see the Outside the Lines where the Nebraska and WVU (?) players were living in Section 8 housing for free while collecting their football stipend? I had a couple buddies that did that in college and one of them was able to save up nearly $10,000 because of it. Their rent was $30 a person. I eventually moved in there, but they cut the Section 8 to the whole place the same time I moved in. Rent was still only $171 a person, which is a joke. There was a year waiting list for anyone who wanted to move there.

stupid enough to report it?

Yeah, only Mo C is stupid enough to report stolen contraband, as well as inflating the value of what was taken.

I'm sure this will blow over quick. $3000 is nothing, especially for two guys (Hawk & Mangold) who will be playing on sundays starting in September.

Shoot, Santonio Holmes was WEARING $3000 worth of clothes a couple of weeks ago!

So Go Bucks and beat the snot outta Notre Dame!!!:pissed:

Police: Thousands Stolen From OSU Roommates Hawk, Mangold

Movies, Cash, DVDs Allegedly Taken

<!--startindex-->COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police said that an apartment belonging to Ohio State football players A.J. Hawk and Nick Mangold was burglarized in the days following the team's win over Michigan.

I really don't see anyone jumping to conclusions. I do see people raising questions (Tibor) and I see a majority of posters coming the players' defense.

Maybe the question shouldn't even have been raised, but with that much stolen and our history with Clarett, that's the first thing that comes to mind. I don't see anything substantive here though, and until I hear otherwise, I'll just say that it sucks for Hawk, Mangold, and their roommate to have that much stolen. Hope they find the bastard, and let AJ and Nick sort it out.

ooooooo! im going with the top left one! am i right?

buckeyepride, im shocked your the first person to bring up the holidays. isn't the day after thanksgiving the biggest shopping day of the year? its not like they reported 10k in clothes were taken from their car. counting vhs i have over 100 movies on my own. primarily because im to lazy to pitch em. but id most certainly put them on a police report for the value in which i paid for them when i purchased them. the 3k in cash... ok, i don't have that. but if you call plastic cash... how many people don't have atleast a 3k limit on their credit card?

im not particularly happy with the way the report sounds even if almost all of it seems fairly explainable. but i see no reason to flip out just yet.

I missed that show. But there was an article in the Chicago Tribune 9 days ago that mentioned the segment. It said that Kirk Ferentz's son was living in that type of housing at Iowa.

Were they implying that it was inappropriate for scholarship athletes to live in government-subsidized housing?
