How long do unopened Nutri-Grain bars last?

Our company cafeteria (where I always get my breakfast) is closed this morning as everyone called in sick, so I turned to my backup plan - breakfast bars which I bought like 3 years ago in case of emergency. There's no expiration date on the box, but it does say "No preservatives" and "Made with Milk" also the copyright is 2003.

The first one tasted nasty, but then they always did so that might be nothing.

What do you think... should I eat the last one or am I going to make myself sick here?

I did eat one without much hesitation... eating two seems like a bigger risk somehow.

I think you must be right... does jam go bad? The center of these things is basically jam.

Eat around the green parts and the white fuzzies - that's what's making it taste bad

UPDATE: I ate the second one while guzzling coffee to mask the taste. I figure worst case scenario... I go home sick. I may do that even if I'm fine.

Usually if the seal on the wrapper is good you could safely eat those things after years. But, the do tend to dry out and get hard.

See?!? People at work made fun of me for posting this to a 'football forum', but I told them: "BuckeyePlanet is a wealth of knowledge... a varitable cornucopia of wisdom... someone will know!" I feel a little lightheaded.

Oh crap... I'm going to die!

Maybe mixed berry has a longer shelf life than Strawberry? That's my only hope. I'm going to go eat Mexican now.. I hear cilantro will kill anything!

I know everyone's worried about me, so here's the latest... I'm fine.

I guess you can eat that stuff years after you buy it and be OK, but it kind of makes me wonder what the heck it's made of!
